Jurnal Ilmu dan Teknologi Kelautan Tropis is a peer-reviewed scientific journal dedicated to advancing the field of tropical marine science and technology. Established in June 2009, the journal originally appeared in print under the name E-Jurnal Ilmu dan Teknologi Kelautan Tropis. Beginning in December 2010, it expanded its format to include both print and electronic versions, ensuring greater accessibility to a broader audience. In 2018, the journal underwent a rebranding and adopted its current title, Jurnal Ilmu dan Teknologi Kelautan Tropis.
The journal is published three times a year, with issues released in April, August, and December. It is committed to disseminating high-quality scientific research and fosters scholarly exchange within the realm of tropical marine science and technology. The journal's scope includes a wide array of scientific contributions, particularly in the form of original research articles, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses.
In terms of international visibility and academic recognition, Jurnal Ilmu dan Teknologi Kelautan Tropis (JITKT) is indexed in Scopus, Web of Science (WoS–ESCI), EBSCO, Dimensions, CABI, along with other recognized international scientific databases. In addition, at the national level, JITKT has been accredited by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia with SINTA 3, based on Decree No. 164/E/KPT/2021, valid from Volume 12(2) 2020 to Volume 17(1) 2025.
The journal is hosted and managed by the Department of Marine Science and Technology at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, IPB University. It operates in close collaboration with both the Association of Indonesian Maritime Specialists and the Association of Indonesian Coastal Management Experts, fostering a multidisciplinary approach to the advancement of tropical marine science and technology.
