About the Journal
Jurnal Ilmu dan Teknologi Kelautan Tropis (Journal of Tropical Marine Science and Technology / JITKT) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal dedicated to advancing the field of tropical marine science and technology. Established in June 2009, the journal was initially published as E-Jurnal Ilmu dan Teknologi Kelautan Tropis. In December 2010, it expanded to both print and electronic formats, ensuring greater accessibility. In 2018, the journal was rebranded and adopted its current title, Jurnal Ilmu dan Teknologi Kelautan Tropis.
The journal is published three times a year (April, August, and December) by the Department of Marine Science and Technology, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, IPB University, in collaboration with the Indonesian Association of Oceanologists (ISOI) and the Indonesian Coastal Management Expert Association (HAPPI).

Accreditation and Indexing
JITKT has been accredited by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Republic of Indonesia, with SINTA 3 according to Decree No. 164/E/KPT/2021, valid from Volume 12(2) 2020 to Volume 17(1) 2025. The journal is indexed in Web of Science (ESCI), EBSCO, Dimensions, CABI, SINTA, GARUDA, BASE, Google Scholar, and other scientific databases.
Open Access Policy
JITKT is an open-access journal, meaning all content is freely available to users without charge. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
Article Types
The journal accepts original research articles, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses that contribute significantly to the development of tropical marine science and technology.
Peer Review Process and Ethics
JITKT applies a double-blind peer-review system. The editorial policy follows international standards of publication ethics (COPE and Elsevier), ensuring originality, preventing plagiarism, managing conflicts of interest, and upholding research integrity.
Focus and Scope
The journal covers a broad range of topics in tropical marine science and technology, including but not limited to: marine biology and ecology, oceanography (physical, chemical, biological, geological, and dynamics), coral reef ecology, marine acoustics, remote sensing and GIS, marine microbiology and pollution, aquaculture and fishery technology, marine biotechnology, integrated coastal management (ICM), air–sea interaction, and ocean engineering.
