  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Journal of Consumer Sciences Instructions

Journal of Consumer Sciences (JCS) focuses on the studies of consumer and family economics. Research findings are expected to provide implication for business community and organizations, public policy, consumer education, consumer empowerment, community, non-government organization programs and activities to enhance the well-being of consumers, families, and communities. JCS publishes articles that meet the criteria as 1) original and significant research in consumer sciences, 2) article has not been published in magazines or other journals, and the article must be original and do not contain any plagiarism.

 

Articles Writing Format

 

Front page:

The title, must be brief, clear, specific and informative which reflect the article content. The length of the title maximum 14 words. Title must be written in capital letters Times New Roman 14pt, bold, center.

The author, contains the name (without a title), institution / company where the author works, and include contact detail to correspondence with the author (Times New Roman 11pt). 

Abstract (Times New Roman 12pt, bold, center). Abstract must be written in English, in single paragraph and no more than 200 words. Abstract contains clear statement of the objective, methods, results, and conclusions. Keywords: should be written in no more than 5 (five) words.

Manuscripts are prepared in A4 paper, margins on all four sides are 3 cm, and total number of pages is 12-20. Manuscripts should be typed using Times New Roman fonts at 12 pt, except for the section title which is 14 pt and 10 pt for the tables, all are single-spaced.  The article consists of several chapters separately and do not use encoding either the title or subtitle. The chapters are:

Introduction, describes the arguments on why the submitted article contains an interesting research and why it is important to be conducted. To answer that, the introduction should contain the background, state of the art of the research that was previously conducted in the same topic and gap analysis to show where the research contributions were made to the development of the topic discourse (novelty). The Introduction section concludes the objectives of the research to be achieved. It should be written efficiently and supported by references.

Literatur Review, make a summary of previous studies that are relevant to the author's research. Fill in keywords, relevant research topics.

Methods,  consist of these aspects and should be described clearly : research design, location, and time; sampling technique; procedures for data collection; measurement and assessment of variables; and data analysis.

Findings, describe the results of the research by using tables, graphs, or figures. It has to be attention to the author to explain the data not only just read them. The findings present the empirical results of the research conducted, while the discussions discuss the results obtained. Finding is strongly recommended written in different sections for each variable or results. This part contains findings obtained. Table must be presented as typed in TNR 10 pt, single spacing, AutoFit Window, and in case of extending to the next page must repeat the header.

Discussion, should show relevance between the results and the field of investigation and/or hypotheses and supported by references or previous empirical researches. Results that al­ready described in the results section should not be repeated in the discussion section. Comparison with other research results also serves to indicate the position of the research conducted in the middle of the discourse of relevant topics.

Conclusions and Recommendations, conclusion should be in the form of response from the intended purpose and is not intended as a summary of the results. Advice is in the form of follow-up (implication) to be done in connection with the findings or conclusions of the author. Conclusion should be written briefly or in numbered list. Based on the research finding, the author should gives recommendations for related parties, such as policy makers, Non-Government organization, and other relevant institutions. The authors also must give recommendations for future research.

Acknowledgments (optional), containing a thank you to those who deserve (donors/sponsors), materials contributor, and research facilities.

References, must be a publication of the last 10 years with a minimum of 80% of the journal, listed alphabetically by author's last name and year of publication. Check any references to original sources (author name, volume, issue, year, DOI number). Please use the Reference Manager Application like Mendeley, Zotero or others. JCS adapts reference writing in the APA style model. Some examples of references are presented below:

 HOW TO REGISTER

Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.

  1. Author should register through the following address: http://jurnal.ipb.ac.id/index.php/jcs/user/register
  2. Author should fulfill the form, especially on the star mark. On the Confirmation Register section, please give your selection as author, reviewer, or both of them.   After the form is filled, click on "Register" to process the registration.
  3. Please go to User Home and select your role as Author. In Active Submission, click on "Click here: to go to step one of the five-step submission process".
  4. These are the five-step submission process:
  • Step 1. Starting the Submission On the Journal Section, select the appropriate section of journal, i.e. Articles. Author has to check-mark on the submission checklists. Author is able to give brief information to Editor about the submitted manuscript on the Comment form.  Please click on the "Save and continue" button to go to the further step.
  • Step 2. Entering the Submission's Metadata. 
    Author should enter metadata of all authors engaged in the writing process. The information of manuscript title, abstract, and keywords must be filled in the textbox.
  • Step 3. Uploading the Submission
    To upload manuscript to this journal, author should click Browse to find the manuscript file on the hard drive. Choose the file and click Upload button. Once the submission is uploaded, click Save and Continue on the bottom of this page.
  • Step 4. Uploading Supplementary Files
    The supplementary file should be uploaded is form A, consisting of Statement of Originality and Copyright Release Form. Therefore, click on Browse button, choose the file, click on Upload button, and click on Save and Continue.
  • Step 5. Confirming the Submission
    Author has to check that all documents are complete. To submit the manuscript to Journal of Family Sciences, click Finish Submission button. The corresponding author or the principal contact will receive an acknowledgement by email and will be able to view the submission's progress through the editorial process by logging in to the journal web address site.

Author is able to trace the submission manuscript status including manuscript review and editorial process by logging in to the journal web.
