As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
All submissions must meet the following requirements.
The graphs sent separately in Microsoft excel (.xls or .xlsx)
The manuscript is an original, has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor)
The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines
The manuscript is submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) document format
The manuscript is submitted along with an author Statement Form
Author Guidelines
1. Scope and Submission Requirements
Jurnal Ilmu dan Teknologi Kelautan Tropis (JITKT) accepts original research articles, short communications, and review papers in the fields of oceanography, marine science, fisheries, coastal zone management, and tropical marine technology.
Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
Authors are required to complete and sign the Statement of Originality and Publication Ethics Form, which must be uploaded during the submission process via the journal’s Open Journal System (OJS).
Manuscripts may be written in English.
2. Manuscript Format
All manuscripts must conform to the JITKT official template, available for download on the journal website.
The manuscript must not exceed 15 pages, including tables, figures, and references.
Page layout: A4, single-column format, with 3 cm margins (top, bottom, left), and 2.5 cm right margin.
Font: Calibri, 10 pt, single spacing.
Authors must use the built-in Word styles provided in the template; manual formatting modifications are discouraged.
3. Manuscript Structure
Manuscripts should be organized as follows:
Title
Author names and affiliations
Abstract (maximum 250 words)
Keywords (maximum of 5 terms)
Introduction
Materials and Methods
Results and Discussion (may be separated into distinct sections)
Conclusion
Conflict of Interest Statement

4. Tables and Figures
Tables and figures must be numbered, titled, and cited within the main text.
All citations of figures and tables within the text must appear in bold (e.g., Figure 1, Table 2).
Figures must be high-resolution (minimum 300 dpi) and saved in JPG, PNG, or TIFF formats.
Tables must be editable and should not be submitted as images. Avoid inner and vertical lines except for the header row.
5. Equations and Number Formatting
Equations must be prepared using Microsoft Word’s Equation Editor and numbered sequentially, aligned to the right (e.g., (1)).
Decimal and thousand separators should follow English writing conventions: use a dot for decimals (e.g., 12.5) and a comma for thousands (e.g., 1,000).
Units of measurement must adhere to SI standards (e.g., mg L⁻¹, m³ day⁻¹, °C).
6. Citation and References
Citations and references must follow the APA Style (7th edition).
Authors are encouraged to use reference management tools such as Mendeley.
The reference list must be arranged alphabetically by the surname of the first author.
At least 80% of the references must consist of primary scientific journal articles published within the last 10 years.
7. Submission and Peer Review Process
All submissions must be made via the Online Journal System (OJS).
The corresponding author is responsible for maintaining communication during the editorial and review process.
All submitted manuscripts will undergo double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers.
Editors reserve the right to request revisions, accept, or reject manuscripts based on the reviewers’ evaluations and compliance with journal standards.
8. Ethics and Plagiarism Policy
All manuscripts will be screened using plagiarism detection software.
If the similarity index exceeds 20%, authors will be required to revise and resubmit the manuscript.
Authors are responsible for ensuring proper citation and the originality of their work in accordance with academic ethical standards.
9. Article Processing Charges (APC)
An Article Processing Charge (APC) of 2.000.000 IDR applies to accepted manuscripts.
There are no fees for submission or peer review stages.
Authors may request a fee waiver, which will be considered by the editorial board on a case-by-case basis.
Jurnal Ilmu dan Teknologi Kelautan Tropis (JITKT) is an open-access journal. All articles are freely accessible without charge to users or institutions and may be read, downloaded, copied, distributed, printed, searched, linked to, or used for any lawful purpose, provided proper credit is given to the original authors and source.
Authors retain the copyright of their published articles. By submitting manuscripts to JITKT, authors agree that their work will be published under the CC BY 4.0 license, which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium with appropriate attribution.
