Authorship Criteria
Jurnal Ilmu Komputer dan Agri-Informatika (JIKA) follows the authorship guidelines of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authorship confers credit and carries accountability for the published work.
Who qualifies as an author
An individual should be listed as an author only if they meet all of the following conditions:
- Made a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the work, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data, software, or models.
- Drafted the manuscript or revised it critically for important intellectual content.
- Approved the final version to be published.
- Agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work, and to help investigate and resolve any questions about its accuracy or integrity.
Contributions that do not constitute authorship
The following, on their own, do not justify authorship: securing funding, general supervision of a research group, providing facilities, technical or language assistance, and holding an administrative position. Such contributors should be recognized in the Acknowledgments section, with their consent.
Corresponding author
One author must be designated as the corresponding author. The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the journal during submission, peer review, and publication, and for ensuring that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the manuscript and agreed to its submission to JIKA.
Author contributions statement
Authors are encouraged to include a statement describing each author’s contribution, preferably using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy), for example: conceptualization, methodology, software, validation, formal analysis, investigation, data curation, writing (original draft), writing (review and editing), visualization, supervision, and funding acquisition.
Changes to the author list
The author list, including the order of names, should be finalized at the time of submission. Any request to add, remove, or reorder authors after submission must be sent to the editorial office, state the reason for the change, and be accompanied by written consent from all authors, including any author being added or removed. The editor will decide whether the change is acceptable, and may suspend the review or publication process until the matter is resolved.
Unacceptable authorship practices
JIKA does not accept:
- Ghost authorship: omitting someone who has met the authorship criteria.
- Guest or gift authorship: listing someone who has not made a substantial contribution, regardless of their position or relationship to the research.
- Honorary or coerced authorship: adding names because of seniority, pressure, or favors.
Suspected authorship misconduct will be handled in accordance with COPE guidelines and the journal’s policy on allegations of research misconduct.
