One of the flowering plants that live underwater and grow in shallow marine waters and estuaries is seagrass. Seagrass ecosystems are very important because they play a supporting role in fisheries and are related to other coastal ecosystems such as coral reefs and mangroves. There are several factors that can affect seagrass growth such as temperature, salinity, depth, and current. This research aimed to identify the cover and water conditions in seagrass ecosystems on Small Tidung Island. The method used in determining the percentage of seagrass cover was the quadrant transect method, namely, drawing a line drawn straight over the seagrass field. The quadrant itself was part of the frame which had the shape of an equilateral rectangle which was then placed on the line. Based on the results of research on the island of Small Tidung Island in 3 stations and 5 plots, showed an overall average seagrass cover of 30.4%, and the quality conditions of temperature, salinity, depth, and current there were good for seagrass growth.
