POTRET PERIKANAN TANGKAP KOTA DUMAI SEJAK 2017 HINGGA 2021

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe a condition of capture fisheries production in the city of Dumai from 2017 to 2021 and to analyze the characteristics of fishing units in that city. This research used annual secondary data (2017-2021) number of fishermen, number of boats, number of fishing gear, capture fisheries production, and capture fisheries production value obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics of the City of Dumai. To obtain a more comprehensive study, primary data was obtained through interviews and observations. Data analysis used was the method of content analysis. The results shows that fishery production data fluctuated. In 2017 the production data was 930,815 kg and decreased significantly in 2018 (564,766 kg), then it increases every year slowly. Fishing activities in Dumai City were spread over 5 districts out of 7 districts, namely Medang Kampai, Sungai Sembilan, West Dumai, East Dumai, and Dumai City. The characteristics of Dumai City’s capture fisheries are small-scale or traditional capture fisheries. Fishermen in the city of Dumai are dominated by a main fishermen. The vessels used consisted of several types, namely boat 5-30 GT, boat with outboard engine sized 5 GT, boat without engine and fisherman without boat. The fishing gear used consisted of active, passive and static fishing gear.
