GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS
JURNAL ILMU KELUARGA DAN KONSUMEN

A. GENERAL INFORMATION

Jurnal Ilmu Keluarga dan Konsumen (JIKK) is a scientific journal that publishes research results that can contribute to improving the quality of life of families and consumers. Acceptable research topics are well-being, resilience, sociology, psychology, resource management, education, ecology, communication, and family development; gender partnership; human development; parenting, child protection; consumer behavior, consumer education, and consumer protection.

JIKK is published three times a year, in January, May, and September. Authors who wish to submit a manuscript to JIKK must register and submit their manuscripts online through https://submission3-journal.ipb.ac.id/jikk/submission. Manuscripts must be original and must not have been previously published in any scientific journal. This must be stated in the author statement form. Manuscripts submitted to JIKK and under review must not be submitted to another publication during the review process. Authors agree to follow the entire manuscript selection process in accordance with JIKK procedures, including revising manuscripts in response to comments from the Editor and Reviewers within the specified time. Authors may not withdraw manuscripts that have been declared “accepted” by the Editorial Board. Authors who withdraw an accepted manuscript in violation of this rule will be disqualified from publishing in Jurnal Ilmu Keluarga dan Konsumen for two consecutive years from the date of the notification letter. JIKK screens submitted manuscripts using plagiarism detection software to identify potential similarities and prevent plagiarism.

B. MANUSCRIPT FILE

Manuscripts must be written in Bahasa Indonesia or English. If the manuscript is written in English, authors, especially those whose first language is not English, must consultan English-language editing service before submitting the manuscript to Jurnal Ilmu Keluarga dan Konsumen.
If the manuscript is written in English, the English title and abstract should be presented first. Conversely, if the manuscript is written in Bahasa Indonesia, the Bahasa Indonesia title and abstract should be presented first. Every manuscript must include the title and abstract in both English and Bahasa Indonesia.
Manuscripts must be prepared in Microsoft Word (.docx) format.
Manuscripts must be prepared on A4-size paper in portrait orientation, with 2.5 cm margins on all sides. The total manuscript length must be 6,000–8,000 words, calculated from the beginning to the end of the manuscript, including the title, abstract, main text, and r
Manuscripts must use a single-column format.
Manuscripts must include line numbering.
Manuscripts must use single spacing, with 0 pt before and after paragraphs, and Arial font size 10 points.
Tables, graphs, and figures must be of high quality and placed after the paragraph in which they are first mentioned. Tables, graphs, and figures must be clear and legible, without blurring. To maintain image clarity, figures should preferably be provided in an editable format in Microsoft Word.Each manuscript may contain a maximum of 5 tables and 5 figures/graphs. In manuscripts written in Bahasa Indonesia, tables, graphs, and figures must be presented bilingually, in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
Write the percentage symbol in sentences as 'percent,' while within parentheses, use the symbol '%.' E.g.:

Almost all adolescents (89%) had.....
In 89 percent of adolescents had...

The structure and content of manuscripts published in Jurnal Ilmu Keluarga dan Konsumen (JIKK) follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), Seventh Edition, with adjustments to JIKK's editorial policies and requirements. Manuscripts must be organized in the following order: Title, Author Names and Institutional Affiliations, Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions and Suggestions, Acknowledgments (if applicable), Author Statements (Artificial Intelligence Use Statement, Author Contributions Statement, Funding Statement, and Conflict of Interest Statement), and References.
The manuscript in Microsoft Word (.docx) format and all required supplementary files must be submitted electronically through the JIKK online submission system: https://submission3-journal.ipb.ac.id/jikk/submission. Required supplementary files include the Author Profile, Statement of Originality and Copyright Release Form, and Ethical Approval/Ethical Clearance from the relevant ethics committee for research involving human participants. For research classified as involving low or negligible risk, authors may submit an Author Self-Statement of Compliance with Ethical Eligibility in accordance with JIKK policy. C. MANUSCRIPT STRUCTURE AND CONTENT

C.1 Manuscript Title

The manuscript title must be written in both Bahasa Indonesia and English. The title must be concise, clear, specific, and informative, and reflect the content of the article. Each word in the title must be capitalized using Title Case.
The manuscript title should include information on important findings of the manuscript. The title should describe the content of the article in a specific and effective manner, as reflected in its clarity and informativeness.
In general, the research location should preferably be omitted from the title. However, if the article focuses on an event or characteristic specific to a particular area, the research location may be included in the title.

C.2 Author Names

Author names must be written in the format of first name, middle name (written in full or abbreviated), and last name. Author names must appear in the order of their contributions. The first and last names of authors must be written in full without abbreviations.
In the journal's online metadata, the author name (as important metadata) must consist of at least two words (first/given name and family/last name), although a single-word name is permitted in the manuscript. If an author's name consists of only one word, the same word should be entered as both the first and last name in the article metadata.
The family/last name must not be abbreviated to a single letter, as it is an important part of the metadata for reference and citation purposes.
Author names must not include academic degrees and/or positions.
In the manuscript, separate author names with commas.

C.3 Institutional Affiliations

An affiliation identifies the institution with which the author was affiliated when the research was conducted. Each institutional affiliation must be accompanied by a complete address, including the institution/department, street name, city, postal code, and country. The institutional address must be written clearly and completely. The corresponding author's email address must be clearly provided and active.
The numbering of institutional affiliations (1, 2, 3, etc.) should correspond to the diversity of institutional affiliations, not to the number of authors. If all authors have the same affiliation, superscripts 1, 2, 3, etc. are not necessary. Instead, the corresponding author should be indicated with an asterisk (*). If an author has more than one affiliation, the affiliations should be indicated using superscripts 1, 2, 3, etc.

C.4 Abstract

The abstract must be concise, clear, and complete. It must not contain references (citations, figures, or tables) and must convey the essence of the entire article.
The abstract must be written in both Bahasa Indonesia and English, in one paragraph, and contain 150–200 words.
The abstract must begin with one introductory sentence containing facts/data as an introduction to provide context for and present the research topic.
The research objective must be clearly stated in the following sentence.
The methods and brief findings may be presented in several sentences as needed, with the results emphasizing the important findings of the study rather than discussion.
The abstract must end with a brief conclusion and/or research implications.

C.5 Keywords

At the end of the abstract, provide keywords. Keywords are standard terms carefully selected to reflect the concepts addressed in the article.
Keywords help improve the accessibility of the article through search engines.
No more than 5 words or phrases should be used as keywords.

C.6 Introduction

The Introduction provides a brief background of the research supported by relevant references. The Introduction must include three aspects:

An adequate state-of-the-art overview of relevant previous research that supports the justification of the research contribution and novelty;
A statement justifying the research contribution and novelty and/or a research gap analysis; and
A clear statement of the research objective.

For quantitative research manuscripts, the Introduction may be organized as follows:

Problem statement: presents the phenomenon under study.
Root of the problem: explains the causes of the problem.
Explanatory factors: highlights the relationship between variable X and variable Y, as well as the grand theory and conceptual framework underlying the research.
Urgency/rationale for the research: explains why the research needs to be conducted.
Novelty (analysis of the research gap between the present study and previous research):

Findings from previous research;
Differences between the present study and previous research; and
Contribution of the findings to knowledge.

Thesis statement (research assumption/hypothesis): the author's assumption regarding quantitative research.
Research objective stated clearly and explicitly.

C.7 Methods

The Methods section describes in detail the methods used in the study, including: (i) research design, location, and time; (ii) sampling technique; (iii) data collection procedures; (iv) measurement and assessment of variables; and (v) data analysis.
Research data must be sufficiently up-to-date and relevant to the objectives, design, and context of the study.
In the data collection procedures subsection, authors must include:

The number and year of issuance of the Ethical Approval/Ethical Eligibility/Ethical Clearance document from the relevant ethics committee must be provided if the research involves human participants.
An author's self-statement of compliance with ethical eligibility, approved by the Editorial Team, may serve as a replacement for the Ethical Clearance document if the research is classified as involving low and negligible risk.

C.8 Results

The Results section presents the research findings clearly and systematically based on the data obtained, using appropriate tables, graphs, or figures. Each table, graph, or figure must be accompanied by an explanation of the main findings or important information presented, rather than merely repeating the data shown visually. The Results section should be organized into subsections according to the research variables and analyses. Interpretation in the Results section must be limited to explanations of the findings based on the research data and must not include comparisons with previous research or the use of references. References or citations must not be included in this section.

C.9 Discussion

The Discussion section aims to explain the meaning and relevance of the research findings to the field of study and/or the research questions or objectives, supported by relevant references. The Discussion must be based on the findings presented in the Results section and should not merely repeat the results.

The Discussion must include:

Interpretation and argumentation regarding the main findings, including an explanation of the meaning of the findings and possible processes, mechanisms, factors, contexts, or conditions that may help explain how or why the findings occurred;
The relationship between the findings and relevant concepts or theories to deepen the interpretation and understanding of the findings;
Critical comparison of the findings with relevant and up-to-date theories and/or previous research findings. The Discussion should not merely state that the findings are consistent or inconsistent with previous research, but should critically explain the similarities or differences by considering relevant and up-to-date theories or research findings. Such comparisons may show that the findings strengthen or correct previous findings; and
Synthesis of the findings by integrating the research findings, interpretations, theories, and previous research findings to provide a deeper understanding of the phenomenon under study.

The Discussion must focus on the important findings of the study and demonstrate critical analysis and synthesis. Research limitations should be briefly presented in the final paragraph of the Discussion.

C.10 Conclusions and Suggestions

This section is divided into two paragraphs.

The first paragraph summarizes the research conclusions, addresses the research objective, and emphasizes new and/or important findings. Conclusions must be based on sufficient research findings and evidence and must not include citations or references from other sources.
The second paragraph provides recommendations for future research or program development based on the findings of the study.

C.11 Acknowledgments (if applicable)

Acknowledgments should be given to individuals or institutions that contributed to the research.

C.12 Author Statements

Author Statements are placed at the end of the manuscript before the References and consist of statements on the use of artificial intelligence, author contributions, funding, and conflicts of interest.

C.12.1 Artificial Intelligence Use Statement

Authors must state whether or not artificial intelligence (AI) was used in the preparation of the article.
Artificial intelligence may only be used to assist with language editing, improve readability, or improve the presentation of the manuscript. It must not be used to generate, alter, or manipulate research data; replace scientific analysis, interpretation of results, or conclusions; or generate citations that have not been verified by the authors. Artificial intelligence must not be listed as an author. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and content of the manuscript.
If artificial intelligence is used, authors must provide:

the name of the artificial intelligence application or technology used;
the purpose of its use in preparing the manuscript; and
a statement that all outputs generated through the use of artificial intelligence have been reviewed and verified and remain the full responsibility of the authors.

If artificial intelligence is not used, authors must still provide a statement that the manuscript was prepared without the use of artificial intelligence.

C.12.2 Author Contributions Statement

Authors must describe the contribution of each author to the research and preparation of the article according to the characteristics of the field. Authors must state each author's contribution to the research and preparation of the article using Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT). Authors may select the contributor roles that correspond to their respective contributions and the characteristics of the research.

C.12.3 Funding Statement

Authors must state the source and funding number, if applicable, or declare that there was no funding.

C.12.4 Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose whether there are any conflicts of interest related to the publication of the article.

C.13 Citations and References

C.13.1 Number and Proportion of References

Authors must use at least 15 references in each manuscript.
At least 80 percent of the references must have been published within the last 10 years (recent references).
At least 80 percent of the references must be from scientific journal articles (primary references).
The formula for calculating the percentage of primary references is provided below. The same formula is used to calculate the percentage of recent references (references published within the last 10 years).

C.13.2 Citation Style

In-text citations and the reference list must follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), 7th Edition.
Citation styles such as "... Garuda (2013) in Arjuna (2015) in Sinta (2017)..." are not standard citation practices and should be avoided.
Authors are encouraged to use reference management software, such as Mendeley, Zotero, or similar applications.
The use of reference management software does not relieve authors of the responsibility to ensure the accuracy and consistency of citations and the reference list.

C.13.3 Relevance and Use of References

References used must be relevant to the topic and support the statements or arguments presented in the manuscript.
Authors should avoid excessive and/or inappropriate self-citation.

C.13.4 Consistency Between Citations and References

All citations in the article must be included in the reference list.
All references in the reference list must be cited in the article.
Authors must not use anonymous references.

C.14 Examples of In-Text Citations and Reference List Entries

C.14.1 In-Text Citations

In-text citations: Holden (2022) or (Holden, 2022); Sharma and Sonwaney (2021) or (Sharma & Sonwaney, 2021); Zevalkink et al. (2021) or (Zevalkink et al., 2021). If a statement is supported by multiple sources, the in-text citations may be combined within a single set of parentheses. Arrange the sources alphabetically and separate them with semicolons. When citing multiple works by the same author published in different years, list the publication years separated by commas: (Brown, 2009; Porter, 2004; Smith, 2015, 2017).

C.14.2 Reference List Entries

References must be arranged alphabetically by the first author's last name. For works by the same author or authors, references should be arranged chronologically by publication year, from the earliest to the most recent. JIKK adopts the reference style of the seventh edition of APA. Examples of reference list entries are provided below.

C.15 Tables and Figures

Figure numbers and titles should be placed below the figures, while table numbers and titles should be placed above the tables. Tables and graphs should not be presented as images. Tables and graphs should preferably be created using Microsoft Office Word. In English manuscripts, use a period as the decimal separator and a comma as the thousands separator (e.g., 20.5 cm, not 20,5 cm; Rp20,500.00, not Rp20.500,00). In Indonesian manuscripts, use a comma as the decimal separator and a period as the thousands separator (e.g., 20,5 cm, not 20.5 cm; Rp20.500,00, not Rp20,500.00). Large numbers may be expressed in words (e.g., 2 million instead of 2,000,000).

C.16 Mathematical Equations and Models

For ease of reading, the number of mathematical models presented in the article should be limited. If extensive mathematical models are used, they should be placed in an appendix. Authors are encouraged to use Microsoft Equation Editor for equations and mathematical symbols. The recommended measurement units are metric units (e.g., m, m², L, and °C).

Submission Checklist
Before submitting a manuscript, authors are required to ensure that the following documents have been prepared:
1. Manuscript
The manuscript must be prepared in accordance with the journal's Submission Guidelines and Manuscript Template.

2. Author Profile
Authors must complete the Author Profile Form (Supplementary File).

3. Statement of Originality and Copyright
Authors must complete the Statement of Originality and Copyright Form.

4. Ethical Clearance / Ethical Approval
Authors of research involving human participants and/or animals are expected to submit the Ethical Clearance/Ethical Approval document issued by the relevant ethics committee. The ethical approval number and year of issuance, as well as the name of the issuing ethics committee, should also be stated in the manuscript.

For studies classified as low and negligible risk, the Ethical Clearance/Ethical Approval may be replaced by a Statement of Self-Compliance with Ethical Requirements, in which the authors declare their compliance with applicable ethical requirements. The authors should also include a statement of ethical compliance in the manuscript. The statement does not replace Ethical Clearance/Ethical Approval when ethical review is required.

Note: The Author Profile, Statement of Originality and Copyright, and ethical documentation are collected and retained as internal editorial records for administrative and verification purposes only. Author-submitted forms must be signed by the author(s), where applicable. These documents will not be published as part of the article.

Please ensure that all required documents are prepared and uploaded before completing the submission.

All manuscript processes are managed through OJS to ensure proper documentation and traceability. Authors are encouraged to use OJS as the primary platform for manuscript submission, revision, and other manuscript-related processes.
