Ethical Clearance

Jurnal Ilmu Keluarga dan Konsumen (JIKK) is committed to ensuring that published research complies with applicable ethical principles and standards.

Research Involving Human Participants and/or Animals

Research involving human participants and/or animals must comply with applicable ethical requirements, taking into account the characteristics of the research and relevant regulations.

For research involving human participants, authors must ensure the protection of participants’ rights and interests, including providing information about the purpose and benefits of the research, participant characteristics, recruitment and research procedures, informed consent, parental or guardian consent where applicable, privacy and confidentiality, the right to refuse or withdraw from participation, and the identification and minimization of potential risks or discomfort. Other aspects, such as deception and recording of data, should be addressed where relevant to the research.

For research involving animals, authors must ensure that the research is conducted in accordance with applicable ethical principles and requirements for the care and use of animals, including appropriate measures to minimize pain, suffering, or unnecessary distress.

Authors must state the name of the ethics committee or approving institution, Ethical Clearance/Ethical Approval number, and year of approval in the manuscript.

Low and Negligible Risk

Low and negligible risk (LNR) refers to research that involves minor discomfort or no significant risk to participants (Source: Lower Risk Research, The University of Queensland).

For research classified as low and negligible risk, Ethical Clearance/Ethical Approval may be replaced by a Statement of Self-Compliance with Ethical Requirements provided by the authors.

The Statement of Self-Compliance will be reviewed and approved as part of the JIKK editorial process in accordance with applicable requirements.

The Statement of Self-Compliance is not an Ethical Clearance/Ethical Approval, and its editorial approval by JIKK does not constitute Ethical Clearance/Ethical Approval or ethical approval of the research.

Authors using the Statement of Self-Compliance must still include an ethical statement in the manuscript describing compliance with applicable ethical requirements and the protection of participants’ rights.
