Authorship Criteria
Jurnal Ilmu Gizi dan Dietetik
Effective from the 2027 publication year
This policy will apply to articles published in Jurnal Ilmu Gizi dan Dietetik beginning with the first issue of 2027. An Author Contributions statement will also be required and included in published articles from that issue onward. Manuscripts submitted earlier but scheduled for publication in 2027 must meet these requirements before publication.
1. Criteria for Authorship
Jurnal Ilmu Gizi dan Dietetik adopts the authorship criteria recommended by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). Each author must satisfy all four conditions:
-
Make a substantial contribution to the study concept or design, or to acquiring, analysing, or interpreting its data.
-
Write the manuscript or critically revise its intellectual content.
-
Approve the final version for publication.
-
Accept accountability for the work and cooperate in resolving questions about its accuracy or integrity.
Contributors who meet the first condition must have an opportunity to participate in manuscript revision and final approval.
2. Author Contributions
Beginning with the 2027 publication year, every article must include an Author Contributions statement before the References section.
The statement must identify each author’s actual role. Authors may use full names or clearly identifiable initials. Roles may include conceptualization, methodology, investigation, data curation, formal analysis, visualization, supervision, funding acquisition, and manuscript preparation or revision.
Authors are encouraged to use the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT). Listing a contribution does not automatically establish eligibility for authorship; each author must also meet the criteria above.
Example:
Author Contributions: AB and CD developed the study concept and methodology. AB collected the data. AB and EF analysed the data. AB prepared the initial manuscript. CD and EF critically revised the manuscript. All authors approved the final version and agreed to be accountable for the work.
3. Corresponding Author and Author Order
The corresponding author coordinates communication with the journal and confirms that author details, contributions, and approvals are complete.
Author order must be agreed upon collectively before submission.
4. Acknowledgments
Funding alone, routine supervision, administrative assistance, or language editing alone does not qualify a person for authorship. Other contributions should be acknowledged, with permission from the individuals named.
5. Changes and Disputes
Requests to add, remove, or reorder authors must include reasons and written agreement from all affected authors. Approved changes after publication require a correction notice.
Unresolved authorship disputes may be referred to the relevant institution. Editorial processing may be suspended pending resolution.
6. Artificial Intelligence
AI tools cannot be authors. Human authors remain responsible for the manuscript and must disclose relevant AI use according to the journal’s guidelines.
7. Implementation
For articles scheduled for publication in 2027, the editorial office will check the Author Contributions statement during manuscript preparation and final proof approval.
This new reporting requirement does not automatically require the addition of contribution statements to articles published before 2027.
