Correction and Retraction
Jurnal Ilmu Gizi dan Dietetik is committed to maintaining an accurate and reliable publication record. When concerns arise about a published article, the editorial team will assess the available evidence and consider relevant guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
This policy complements the journal’s Publication Ethics Statement.
1. Reporting Errors or Concerns
Authors who discover a significant error in their published work must promptly notify the editorial office and cooperate in resolving the matter.
Readers may also report concerns by providing the article title, DOI or URL, a clear explanation, and supporting evidence.
Email: jurnalgizidietetik@apps.ipb.ac.id
Suggested subject: Correction or Retraction Concern – [Article Title or DOI]
2. Corrections
A correction may be issued when an error affects the accuracy or interpretation of an article but does not invalidate its principal findings.
Examples include errors in author details, affiliations, tables, figures, calculations, references, funding information, or conflict of interest declarations.
Requests to change authorship must include an explanation and written agreement from all affected authors. Unresolved authorship disputes may be referred to the relevant institution.
A correction notice will describe the change and link to the original article. Any updated article file will be clearly identified so that substantive changes are not made silently.
3. Retractions
Retraction may be considered when there is clear evidence that an article’s findings are unreliable or its publication involves a serious ethical breach.
Grounds may include:
-
Major errors that invalidate the principal findings.
-
Fabrication or falsification of data.
-
Plagiarism or substantial redundant publication.
-
Unethical research.
-
Serious manipulation of peer review or the publication process.
-
Other substantiated concerns that fundamentally compromise the reliability or integrity of the article.
Retraction serves to correct the publication record. The decision will be based on the evidence and the reliability of the work.
4. Expression of Concern
An expression of concern may be published when a potentially serious issue remains unresolved, an investigation is ongoing, or available evidence is insufficient for a final decision.
The notice will explain the reason for concern and link to the affected article. It may subsequently be followed by a correction, retraction, or notice explaining the resolution.
5. Assessment and Decision
The editorial team will assess reports, seek clarification from the authors where appropriate, and may request research records, independent expert advice, or an institutional investigation.
Authors will be given a reasonable opportunity to respond. Editors with relevant conflicts of interest will withdraw from handling the case.
Final editorial action will consider the evidence, the seriousness of the issue, and its effect on the published work. An author’s disagreement or lack of response does not prevent necessary action when sufficient evidence is available.
6. Publication of Notices
Correction, retraction, and expression of concern notices will be publicly accessible and clearly linked to the relevant article.
A retraction notice will identify the article, explain the reason for retraction, and indicate who is issuing the notice. The original article will normally remain accessible, with its retracted status clearly displayed on the article page and PDF.
7. Exceptional Removal
Removal of article content will be considered only in exceptional circumstances, such as a legal requirement, serious privacy violation, or substantial risk of harm.
Where possible, bibliographic information and a notice explaining the removal will remain available.
8. Requests for Reconsideration
Authors may request reconsideration of an editorial action by submitting a reasoned explanation and relevant new evidence to the editorial office.
The journal will assess the request and communicate the outcome. Published notices will be updated when warranted.
