Abstract

Low consumption of vegetables and fruits among adolescents remains a nutritional problem that requires attention. One effort that can be undertaken is nutrition education using media that are appropriate to adolescents’ characteristics. This study aimed to analyze changes in knowledge and vegetable and fruit consumption before and after nutrition education using E-Flipbook, Educational Fan, and Interactive Games media. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a three-group pretest-posttest design involving 30 seventh-grade students at SMP IT At-Taubah Karawang. The students were divided into three groups, with 10 respondents in each group, and each group received one type of educational media. Knowledge data were collected using a questionnaire, while vegetable and fruit consumption was assessed using a 1×24-hour dietary recall. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test to determine differences before and after the intervention. The results showed no significant change in knowledge in the E-Flipbook group (median 87.00 to 87.00; p=0.443), Educational Fan group (86.50 to 80.00; p=0.510), or Interactive Games group (100.00 to 93.00; p=0.114). No significant changes were found in vegetable consumption in the E-Flipbook group (0.00 to 30.00; p=0.342), Educational Fan group (30.00 to 42.50; p=0.524), or Interactive Games group (37.50 to 52.50; p=0.260). Fruit consumption also showed no significant changes in the E-Flipbook group (0.00 to 0.00; p=0.317), Educational Fan group (0.00 to 0.00; p=0.414), or Interactive Games group (0.00 to 0.00; p=0.102). Thus, the three educational media did not show significant changes in knowledge or vegetable and fruit consumption among the respondents.
