Kadar kolesterol dan glukosa darah luwak Jawa (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus) yang didomestikasi
Abstract
Status kesehatan luwak yang pemanfaatannya cukup tinggi sebagai penghasil kopi belum banyak dipelajari secara lengkap. Informasi mengenai status fisiologis luwak Jawa (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus) yang telah didomestikasi masih terbatas dan sangat diperlukan untuk menilai aspek kesejahteran hewan di penangkaran. Studi ini melaporkan kadar kimia darah dan kolesterol luwak Jawa yang sudah didomestikasi. Luwak dalam penelitian ini diberi pakan berupa pisang, kepala ayam dan juga dog food. Pemeriksaan kimia darah berupa kadar glukosa dan kolesterol darah dilakukan terhadap 6 ekor luwak yang diberi pakan pisang, kepala ayam dan juga dog food. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa luwak Jawa jantan memiliki kadar glukosa sebesar 68,00±22,55 mg/dL dan luwak Jawa betina yaitu sebesar 73,78±12,60 mg/dL. Kadar kolesterol darah pada luwak Jawa jantan yaitu sebesar 145,78±22,29 mg/dL dan luwak Jawa betina yaitu sebesar 142,00±12,44 mg/dL.
