Perancangan Kemasan Transportasi Buah Jambu Air (Syzygium aqueum) cv Camplong

Abstract
Jamboo cv Camplong was an exotic fruit from Sampang Indonesia which had high economic values. The quality of fresh Jamboo was greatly influenced by the types of packaging and ways of its transportation that affected its shelf life. The purpose of this research were designing a primary packaging and analyzing the quality of Jamboo cv Camplong after short transportation (from Sampang to Surabaya). Farmers used
conventional packaging with capacity of 8.4 kg/box (dimension 478 mm x 146 mm x 354 mm). Based on theoretical packaging design showed that the flute BC cardboard (capacity 4.5 kg/box, dimension 357 mm x
217 mm x 216 mm) with partition flute A cardboard. In fact, there was needed modification of the dimension (342 mm x 210 mm x 200 mm) because of the fruits diameter (60-65 mm). This result did not change the
efficiency usage of transportation space (91-95%) and compression strength of box can support (7 boxes/ stack). The result showed that the mechanical damage after transportation were 20.87% for conventional
packaging (as control) and 7.70% for modification packaging design (packaging with partition).

Abstrak
Jambu air camplong merupakan salah satu buah lokal yang menjadi unggulan dan memiliki nilai ekonomi. Terdapat kerusakan buah yang cukup tinggi saat buah di transportasikan dari Sampang ke Surabaya dikarenakan cara kemasan dan penanganan (handling) yang kurang tepat. Pengemasan yang tepat serta transportasi yang baik menjadi titik kritis pascapanen buah untuk menjaga kesegaran buah saat didistribusikan hingga ke konsumen. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah merancang kemasan primer untuk transportasi buah jambu air camplong dan mengkaji kerusakan buah pasca transportasi. Secara teoritis
hasil rancangan kemasan menggunakan karton gelombang flute BC berkapasitas 4.5 kg per kemasan, mempunyai dimensi 357 mm x 217 mm x 216 mm dengan partisi antar buah berupa karton flute A. Dalam
penerapanya dilakukan penyesuaian dimensi menjadi 342 mm x 210 mm x 200 mm karena buah yang didapat saat penelitian pada kisaran 60-65 mm, hasil ini tidak merubah efisiensi penggunaan ruang angkut
(91-95%) dan kekuatan kemasan untuk menahan 7 susunan kemasan dalam transportasi. Sebagai kontrol digunakan kemasan karton dari petani dengan kapasitas 8.4 kg dimensi 478 mm x 146 mm x 354 mm.
Kerusakan mekanis yang terjadi pasca transportasi adalah 20.87% untuk jambu pada kemasan kontrol (petani), dan 7.70% pada kemasan hasil rancangan bersekat.
