Abstract
The bouke ami ship is one of the ships operating at PPS Nizam Zachman, with a long duration of operation at sea. The problem faced by ships with long trip durations is the availability of cold storage as a fish-handling facility on board according to established standards to maintain the freshness of the fish on board. This study aims to 1) identify indicators as a standard reference for holds legally regulated by the government and 2) examine the suitability of the conditions of the hold of the bouke ami ship against the standard reference indicators of the hold legally established in Indonesia, especially on the bouke ami ship based on PPSNZ Jakarta. The method used is a literature study on regulations regarding holds as handling facilities on board that are regulated by the government through the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and the National Standardization Agency, as well as observations of 30 units of bouke ami ships. The results of the research show that 1) the indicators used in setting standards for handling facilities on board are materials, designs, and complementary instruments regulated through Permen KP No. 7 of 2019, no. 33 of 2021, SNI 01-4872.1-2006, SNI 2729:2013, and SNI 4110:2014. 2) Several indicators are not based on the standards in the fish hold of the bouke ami ship; among others, the material is still made of iron, which can cause corrosiveness, and the design of the hatch does not allow for a first-in first-out storage system, as well as the availability of complementary instruments, namely temperature gauges, trash bins, and hygienic facilities for crew members is still lacking attention.
