Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of Moringa oleifera leaf flour inclusion in the rations on the blood profile of male Arab chickens (Gallus turcicus). The study used 200-day-old chicks (DOC) that were randomly assigned to four treatment groups with five replicates each, reared for eight weeks. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was employed, comprising a control ration (P0) and diets containing 1% (P1), 2% (P2), and 3% (P3) Moringa leaf flour. Blood profile analysis was conducted on samples from 12 eight-week-old chickens (three birds per treatment). Measured parameters included erythrocytes, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and leukocytes. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA); if significant differences between means were found, they were further analyzed using Duncan's test. The results indicated that the inclusion of Moringa leaf flour in the rations reduced leukocyte counts (p<0.05), but it did not significantly affect erythrocyte, hemoglobin, or hematocrit levels. Differential leukocyte analysis showed that the Moringa leaf flour inclusion level in the rations was significantly influenced by eosinophil and basophil counts (p<0.05), whereas it did not affect lymphocyte, monocyte, and heterophil counts. It can be concluded that the inclusion of Moringa leaf flour at levels of 1% to 3% in the diet of Arab chickens reduces blood leukocyte values.
