Abstract

Despite the fact that Indonesia has tremendous local food resource potential, the country's people continue to rely heavily on rice as a staple. This dependency poses a challenge to food security, particularly in agricultural rural regions where there are opportunities to maximize local food variety. The purpose of this study is to examine the food consumption patterns of corn farming households in Mojokarang Village, Dlanggu District, with an emphasis on the proportion of food spending and the level of consumption diversity, using the Household Dietary Diversity Score (HDDS). The respondents in this study were corn farmer households, with a total of 48 respondents chosen using the simple random selection approach. According to the research findings, food spending accounted for 58.14% of total household expenditure, with the largest allocation on grains (30.91%). Even though 58.33% of households have a high HDDS score (>6), consumption of other local carbohydrate sources is still very low. This research shows that although Mojokarang Village has potential local food resources, local food consumption needs to be increased to reduce dependence on rice. Therefore, to support food security and sustainable community welfare, it is necessary to strengthen food diversification policies through nutrition education, farmer empowerment, and development of local food-based agribusiness.
