Abstract

Amagarapati Fish Landing Base is the only official fishing port in East Flores Regency and has a high intensity of operational activities, which potentially generate various occupational hazards and safety risks. This study aimed to identify potential hazards and risks in each working area of the Amagarapati Fish Landing Base. The study was conducted from November to December 2025 using field observations, interviews, and risk assessment through the Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) approach involving 42 fishers, 4 technical staff, and 1 port manager. The results showed that all working areas were exposed to hazards originating from physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic, and psycho-social factors. Most of the identified risks were categorized as low, however, several moderate risks were identified, including lower back pain and postural disorders in the fish unloading area (33.74%), dehydration and heat stress in the parking area (36.88%), occupational accidents during nighttime activities at the wharf (43.54%), and back injuries caused by manual material handling at the wharf (34.69%). The wharf, fish unloading area, and parking area were identified as priority areas for occupational safety risk control within the port.
