Abstract

This study aimed to assess the effects of different bokashi fertilizer types and application rates on vegetative growth, biomass production, and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) colonization in Samurai-1 sorghum. A factorial randomized block design was employed, involving five bokashi fertilizer types, three application rates, and four replications. The treatments included B0 (bokashi), BM (bokashi + mycorrhiza), BLM (bokashi + leucaena + mycorrhiza), BLKM (bokashi + leucaena + lime + mycorrhiza), and BLKMG (granulated bokashi + leucaena + lime + mycorrhiza), which were applied at 2, 3, and 4 ton ha⁻¹. Bokashi fertilizer type significantly affected AMF colonization and biomass production (p<0.01). Significant interactions between fertilizer type and application rate were observed for plant height and leaf number (p<0.05), while a highly significant interaction was found for leaf length (p<0.01). B0 produced the greatest growth and biomass responses, whereas the highest AMF colonization was recorded in BLKMG. Unenriched bokashi (B0) was the most effective treatment for promoting growth and biomass production of Samurai-1 sorghum, while granulated bokashi enriched with leucaena, lime, and mycorrhiza (BLKMG) showed the greatest effectiveness in enhancing AMF colonization.
