Urban forests serve as vital green open spaces with three main functions: physical and social, ecological, and aesthetic. The Patriot Bina Bangsa (PBB) Urban Forest in Bekasi City is an important recreational area located amid dense settlements and the government center in a city marked by high population density and Rapid urbanization . However, its current condition is inadequate, with insufficient facilities and limited attractions, that reduce its appeal to visitors. This research evaluates the urban forest’s facilities as a recreational area to provide recommendations for future planning by the local government. Unlike previous studies that primarily examined visitor perspectives regarding comfort, utilization, and management, this research evaluates facilities related to the physical and social functions of urban forests for recreation assessed from an expert team’s perspective. A quantitative descriptive approach was used, incorporating observation and evaluation tools such as questionnaires, with variables covering accessibility, recreational facilities, support services, and attractions. These were further discussed in a Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The findings indicate that most variables, such as facilities and infrastructure for recreation, support services, and attractions, fall into the less-to-sufficient categories, with accessibility was rated as good. The study recommends further research to identify optimal design alternatives that enhance the functionality and attractiveness of the urban forest as a recreational area, contributing to improved utilization and visitor experience.
