Abstract

Masa emerging adulthood ditandai dengan eksplorasi identitas serta berbagai transisi kehidupan yang signifikan, di mana self-esteem berperan penting dalam mendukung kondisi mental dan emosional individu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji peran kesepian sebagai mediator dalam hubungan antara mattering to family dan self-esteem pada individu di masa perkembangan emerging adulthood di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif non-eksperimental dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Partisipan penelitian berjumlah 119 individu berusia 18–25 tahun yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui tiga instrumen: The Mattering Index, UCLA Loneliness Scale Version 3, dan Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale. Analisis data dilakukan dengan model mediasi menggunakan SPSS versi 22 dan Macro-PROCESS. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mattering to family memengaruhi self-esteem secara positif, dengan kesepian sepenuhnya memediasi hubungan ini. Skor mattering to family yang lebih tinggi dikaitkan dengan tingkat kesepian yang lebih rendah, yang selanjutnya memprediksi self-esteem yang lebih tinggi, demikian pula sebaliknya. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya peran keluarga dalam meningkatkan harga diri individu di masa emerging adulthood. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan intervensi berbasis keluarga untuk mengurangi kesepian dan meningkatkan self-esteem pada individu dalam tahap perkembangan ini.
