Budget value of mangrove ecosystem services in The Coastal Area of Dumai City
Nilai Ketersediaan Jasa Ekosistem Mangrove di Wilayah Pesisir Kota Dumai
Abstract
Mangrove ecosystem services in the coastal area of Dumai City have a value for the availability of goods and services that are utilized by the community in the vicinity. The purpose of the study was to assess the balance of mangrove ecosystem services in the coastal area of Dumai City. The data collection method in this study was a survey and interview method with the help of a questionnaire, besides that, literature review and discussions with mangrove ecosystem experts were also carried out. Data analysis used the identification of mangrove ecosystem services with a fishbone diagram approach and an assessment of the availability of ecosystem services using the bukhard model. The results of the study stated that most of the coastal communities of Dumai City benefited from the existence of the mangrove ecosystem for service providers and regulatory services. The largest service provider provided by the mangrove ecosystem is providing fish and crustacean resources such as shrimp and crabs, while the largest regulatory service that is useful is as a barrier to abrasion and reducing ROB flooding. The results of the assessment of the availability of mangrove ecosystem services indicate that in general the demand for mangrove ecosystem services exceeds the supply/capacity of mangrove ecosystem services (negative value), especially settlements, industries, resorts and hotels, and restaurants. This value states that the potential of the mangrove ecosystem has been utilized beyond the limit, so that sustainable management is needed in the utilization of the mangrove ecosystem.
