INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHOR (JURNAL EKOLOGI MANUSIA)

General Information

Jurnal Ekologi Manusia (JEM), is a e-journal that provides contains articles that can contribute to the development of scientific foundations, education, research and service in the field of human ecology in Indonesia. It publishes quantitative and qualitative research and encourages manuscripts in various types including research articles, intervention articles, and review articles.

The scope of this journal is divided into 3 scientific fields, namely:

Jurnal Ekologi Manusia (JEM) is published 2 (two) year, i.e. June and December. The author who will submit the manuscript to JEM must register online through https://journal.ipb.ac.id/index.php/jem/user/register. Manuscripts must be original and have not published previously and any scientific journal. The statement must be stated in an originality of statement form. The manuscripts have been submitted to JEM and were in the process of review should not be submitted to any media during the review process. Author(s) agree to follow the entire process of manuscript selection in accord to Jurnal Ekologi Manusia (JEM) procedures, including revising the manuscripts by following the Editors and Reviewers comments in a specified time. Author(s) can’t be pulled back the manuscripts that have been declared “accepted” by the editorial board. Authors(s) who pulled back the accepted manuscript and does not follow the rules will be disqualified for publishing manuscript in Jurnal Ekologi Manusia (JEM) for 2 consecutive years since the letter issued. JEM uses Plagiarism Checker (turnitin) to prevent any suspected plagiarism in the manuscripts.

Manuscript File

  1. Manuscripts are written in Bahasa Indonesia or English. If manuscripts are written in English, authors especially whose first language is not English should consult the manuscript with English editing service before submitting it to Jurnal Ekologi Manusia (JEM).
  2. Manuscripts should be prepared in Microsoft Word
  3. Manuscripts are prepared in A4 paper (21 x 29.7 cm), margins on all four sides are 2,5 cm, and the articles should be minimum of 11 pages and maximum of 15 pages.
  4. Manuscripts should be one column, no indentation/tab, spacing 1 with before after 6 pt, and using Cambria fonts at 10
  5. Tables, graphs, and figures used should be readable (high quality) and placed after tables, graphs, and figures are referred
  6. Manuscripts use page numbers and line
  7. Structure and content of manuscripts in Jurnal Ekologi Manusia (JEM) refers to Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association: Sixth Manuscripts content should be arranged as the following order: Title, Author’s Name and Institutional Affiliation, Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion and Suggestion, Acknowledgment (if any), and References.
  8. Manuscripts and supplementary files should be submitted electronically through online system: https://journal.ipb.ac.id/index.php/jem/user/register. If the author finds difficulty in submit the manuscript electronically, author can contact administration staff by e-mail (jem.fema@apps.ipb.ac.id).

 

Manuscript Structure and Content

  1. Written with several important words carefully, right, good, interesting, and well organized, and coherently. Title must be written in capital letters (12pt). Number of words in the title should be no more than 15 words. The title of the article must be different from the title of the thesis.
  2. Author’s Name. The preferred form of an author’s name is first name, middle initial(s), and last name. Author’s name should appear in the order of their contributions. Author’s name is written without titles and
  3. Author’s Institutional Affiliation. The affiliation identifies the location where the author or authors were when the research was conducted. Name of institution(s) where the research was conducted must be accompanied with full address including institution/department, city, zip code, country, and e mail.
  4. Abstract is a brief and comprehensive summary of the contents of the article. Abstract is written in Bahasa Indonesia and English, in a single paragraph, and 150-200 words. Abstracts contain a clear statement of introduction, objective, methods, results, the significance of the finding, and conclusion, with no references cited. At the end of abstract, write down keywords. Keywords should be written in no more than 5 (five) words or phrases.
  5. The introduction should describe a brief background of the research that supported by references. If there are similar aspects of the research that have been studied previously, describe also how the difference of this study with previous research (gap analysis of this research with previous research). The introduction should also include objectives and hypotheses of the study.
  6. Methods describes in detail the methods used in the study, including: (i) research design, location, and time; (ii) sampling technique; (iii) procedures for data collection; (iv) measurement and assessment of variables; and (v) data analysis.
  7. Results should present the findings during the study. Data should be presented in tables, graphs, or figures when feasible. The author should not repeat reading the data already presented in the tables, graphs, or figures. The text should explain or elaborate the tabular data.
  8. The discussion should show relevance between the results and the field of investigation and/or hypotheses and supported by references. Results that already described in the results section should not be repeated in the discussion section.
  9. Conclusion and Suggestion. This section describes briefly the conclusions of research results that illustrate the answers to the research objectives. Based on the finding, Based on the research findings, author should make suggestions for researchers, practitioners, and policy makers in the field of family and consumer science.
  10. Acknowledgment (if any). Acknowledgment should be stated to the person(s) or institution(s) who help the
  11. Author should use references that are published in the last 10 year and at least 80 percent of the references used are from scientific journals. The authors are also expected to use references from articles already published in the Journal of Child, Family, and Consumer Studies. Author should not cite a citation and not use anonym reference.
    1. Reference citations in the text: Holden (2010) or (Holden, 2010); Sharma and Sonwaney (2014) or (Sharma & Sonwaney, 2014); Zevalkink, Riksen-Walraven, and Bradley (2008) or (Zevalkink, Riksen-Walraven, & Bradley, 2008); Eisberg, et al. (2012) or (Eisberg, et al., 2012).
    2. References should be listed alphabetically by the author(s) last name(s) and the year of publication. Some examples of references are presented below:
