Abstract

The Bangka Belitung Islands Province has great potential for mangrove crab development, but production still depends on wild capture and limited seed availability due to mangrove ecosystem degradation. This condition calls for hatchery innovations that can increase productivity while supporting resource sustainability. This activity aims to strengthen the capacity of farmers through the application of smart sea farming innovations and crab apartment technology as a solution to increase seed independence. Training was provided to five Fish Farmer Groups (Pokdakan) through the delivery of technical material, field practice, and evaluation using pre-tests and post-tests covering aspects of knowledge, attitude, and understanding of breeding. The material covered reproductive biology, broodstock management, spawning, hatching, seedling maintenance, and the application of the crab apartment system. The training results showed significant improvements, with participants' knowledge increasing by 17%, attitudes improving by 17%, and understanding increasing by 20%. These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of innovation-based training approaches in building participants' technical competencies and readiness to independently implement hatchery practices. strengthening human resource capacity through appropriate technology can support the sustainability of mangrove crab hatchery businesses, strengthen local supply chains, and improve the economy of coastal communities.
