Authorship Policy

Authorship Policy

Journal of Soil Science and Environment recognizes authorship as an important component of research integrity. Authorship should be based on substantial intellectual contributions to the research and manuscript, and all individuals listed as authors must meet the journal's authorship criteria.

Authorship Criteria

To qualify as an author, an individual should have made substantial contributions to one or more of the following aspects of the research:

  • Conception or design of the study;

  • Acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of research data;

  • Development or substantial revision of the scientific content of the manuscript;

  • Drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content; and

  • Approval of the final version of the manuscript to be published.

All authors must agree to be accountable for the work and must ensure that questions related to the accuracy, integrity, or validity of any part of the research are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is responsible for managing communication between the authors and the editorial office throughout the submission, peer-review, revision, and publication processes.

The corresponding author must ensure that:

  • All authors have reviewed and approved the submitted manuscript;

  • All authors agree with the order and presentation of authorship;

  • The manuscript has not been submitted simultaneously to another journal;

  • All required declarations have been completed;

  • Any changes in authorship are communicated to the editorial office; and

  • All authors are informed of editorial decisions and requested revisions.

The corresponding author does not necessarily have to be the first author.

Author Order

The order of authors should reflect the relative contributions of each author to the research and manuscript. Authors are responsible for agreeing on the order of authors before submission.

The journal does not determine the order of authors on behalf of the authors.

Contributions of Authors

To improve transparency, authors are encouraged to provide a statement describing the contribution of each author. The journal may adopt the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) to describe individual contributions, including:

  • Conceptualization

  • Methodology

  • Software

  • Validation

  • Formal Analysis

  • Investigation

  • Resources

  • Data Curation

  • Writing – Original Draft

  • Writing – Review & Editing

  • Visualization

  • Supervision

  • Project Administration

  • Funding Acquisition

The contribution statement should accurately represent the actual contribution of each author.

Changes in Authorship

Requests to add, remove, or reorder authors after manuscript submission must be justified and approved by all authors.

Any proposed change in authorship should be submitted in writing to the editorial office by the corresponding author and should include:

  1. The reason for the requested change;

  2. The contribution of the author(s) concerned;

  3. Written agreement from all existing and proposed authors; and

  4. Confirmation that all authors agree with the revised authorship order.

The editorial office may request additional documentation before approving a change in authorship.

Changes in authorship after publication will only be considered in exceptional circumstances and will be handled according to the journal's correction and publication ethics policies.

Guest, Gift, and Ghost Authorship

The journal does not permit:

Guest authorship — individuals who are listed as authors despite making no substantial contribution to the research.

Gift authorship — individuals who are included as authors as a favor, because of their position, seniority, or other non-scientific considerations.

Ghost authorship — individuals who made substantial contributions to the research or manuscript but are not appropriately acknowledged or listed as authors.

Such practices may constitute a breach of publication ethics.

Acknowledgements

Individuals who contribute to the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged appropriately, with their permission.

Examples may include individuals who provide administrative assistance, technical support, language editing, data collection assistance, or other forms of support that do not constitute substantial intellectual contribution.

Accountability and Research Integrity

All authors share responsibility for the integrity of the published work. Authors should cooperate with the editorial office in responding to questions, corrections, or investigations concerning the manuscript.

By submitting a manuscript to Journal of Soil Science and Environment, authors confirm that the authorship information is accurate, that all listed authors have approved the submission, and that no qualified contributor has been intentionally excluded from authorship.
