WORK–FAMILY CONFLICT, COPING STRATEGIES, AND MARITAL SATISFACTION: A STUDY OF COMMUTER MOTHERS IN JABODETABEK

The involvement of women in the public sector to work commuters needs adaptation to the family in tackling the work-family conflict and implementing appropriate coping strategies to improve marital satisfaction. This study aims to analyse the influence of work-family conflicts and coping strategies on marital satisfaction of wives who work commuter. This research uses a quantitative approach through an interview with questionnaire aids involving 71 commuter workers’ mothers in Jabodetabek selected through purposive sampling technique. The data obtained were processed and analysed with descriptive analysis test, Pearson’s correlation test, and multiple linear regression test using the SPSS 26.0 application. The results of the correlation test show that the age of wives-husbands and age of marriage have a significant negative correlation with marital satisfaction. While husband’s income is negatively correlated with work-family conflicts and positively correlated with marital satisfaction. The results of the regression test show that the husband’s income, the number of family members, family to work conflicts, and coping strategies have a significant positive influence on marital satisfaction. While age of marriage have a significant negative influence on marital satisfaction.
