Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines for JPI (Jurnal Pustakawan Indonesia) since its first issue in 2021.
 

1. Introduction

 
JPI (Indonesian Librarians’ Journal), with registration numbers ISSN 1410-5551 (print) and ISSN 2686-1879 (online), is a multidisciplinary scientific journal published by the Library of the Bogor Agricultural University. At the national level, there are numerous common problems or issues relating to library science and information. The aim of this journal is to disseminate conceptual ideas and research findings achieved in the field of library and information science.
 
The online version of JPI (Indonesian Librarians’ Journal) has been available since 9 July 2015, coinciding with the publication of Volume 11, Issue 2, 2015. The journal is indexed in the Indonesian Scientific Journal Database (ISJD), the Indonesian Publication Index (IPI) and Google Scholar. The editorial board of JPI (Indonesian Librarians’ Journal) invites you to submit your manuscripts for publication in this journal. An example of the article formatting can be found HERE.
 

2. How to Write the Title, Author Names and Addresses

 
The title of the manuscript must be written at the top of the first page, centred. Meanwhile, the authors’ names (without academic titles) and their institutional addresses must also be centred directly below the title. Authors must leave two spaces between the title and the author’s name. There should be a single space between the author’s affiliation and the abstract title. Keywords must be listed below the abstract, with all words included. They must be arranged in alphabetical order and separated by semicolons, with a maximum of three to five words. Furthermore, article titles written in Indonesian must also be provided in English (see example above).
 
The responsible author, corresponding author, or authors must be listed first, followed by the second, third, and so on. Communication regarding article revisions and final statements will be sent via email to the corresponding author only. If there is more than one author, the authors’ names must be separated by commas (,). If an author’s name consists of at least two words, the first name must not be abbreviated. If an author’s name consists of only one word, it must be written as it is. However, in the online version, it will be written as two words with the same name repeated for metadata indexing purposes (Camdali and Tunc, 2006; Fridman, 2008).
 
3. General Manuscript Guidelines
 
The general guidelines for manuscripts are as follows:
 
  1. Manuscripts must be original research that has not previously been published in any other publication or by any other publisher.
  2. Manuscripts must not contain any elements of plagiarism. The editorial team will immediately reject any text showing signs of plagiarism.
  3. The submission and publication process is free of charge, with no additional fees.
  4. Manuscripts written in accordance with JPI guidelines (in MS Word format, using this article template) must be submitted via the Online Submission System using the Open Journal System (OJS) on the JPI E-journal portal (https://journal.ipb.ac.id/index.php/jpi); select only one procedure. Then, register as either an author or a reviewer at the bottom of the “List” section.
  5. The manuscript writing guidelines and template can be downloaded. The template and writing guidelines are available in MS Word (.doc) format.

  7. Manuscripts that do not comply with the JPI writing guidelines will be returned to the author prior to the review process.
  8. Manuscripts must include the following elements of a scientific article (subheadings in order), namely: (a) article title, (b) author’s name (without academic titles), (c) the author’s affiliation address, (d) the author’s email address, (e) the abstract and keywords, (f) the introduction, (g) the research methods, (h) the research findings and discussion, (i) the conclusion, and (j) the references.
  9. Subheadings within the discussion section (Introduction, Theoretical Review, Research Methods, Results and Discussion, and Conclusion) must be numbered sequentially using Arabic numerals, starting from one. Subheadings must be written in bold and capital letters. They must be left-aligned without underlining. Subsequent expanded subheadings must be written in bold, capitalised text, using left-aligned text and second-level numbering.
  10. Manuscripts may be written in either Indonesian or English, using standard language. Manuscripts must consist of between fifteen (15) and twenty (20) pages, including figures and tables.
Manuscript Submission Checklist
 
You must read and confirm that you have met the following requirements before proceeding.
  • The manuscript has not been previously published, and is not currently under consideration for publication in another journal (or this has been explained in the ‘Comments to the Editor’).
  •  The manuscript file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word or RTF format.
  • URLs have been provided for references that are accessible online.
  • The manuscript is typed with single-spaced text; 12-point font; using italics rather than underlining (except for URLs); and all illustrations, figures and tables are placed within the text at their intended locations, rather than grouped separately at the end of the manuscript.
  • The formatting of the manuscript and citations follows the style required in the Author Guidelines.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
