Rural development in Indonesia during the last five years has experienced a considerably drastic change in approach as an effort from the government to overcome the lagging of rural development and to reduce poverty level since two third of the national poor population reside at rural areas. The first three articles in this edition highlight various dynamics of rural development, ranging from the issue of village fund effectivity managed by village government, tourism village development, to land cover conversion at rural areas in relation to environmental issues. The other two articles discuss metropolitan suburban phenomena in Java Island and Sulawesi Island: an article discusses characteristics of commuters which commute from rural and suburban areas in West Java Province; and the last article discusses the dynamics of land registration spatial distribution in metropolitan suburban in South Sulawesi.
