Convergent Communication and Creative Sosio Cultural Energy of Rural Communities of North Central Timor Regency in Overcoming Poverty
Abstract
Poverty is a common problem for some people in the Province of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), especially in the Regency of North Central Timor (TTU). To overcome this problem, rural communities in the Regency of TTU maintains traditions that are in line with the concept of creative socio-cultural energy, namely the traditions of "tok tabua" (sitting together) and "meup tabua" (working together), which prioritizes participatory action in any activity or work. This study aimed to analyze the factors that influence the creative socio-cultural energy of rural communities in the TTU Regency. This research used quantitative methods. A total of 90 respondents selected by cluster sampling from Tamkesi Village, Ainiut Village and Noeltoko Village. Data collected includes primary and secondary data. Data were analyzed using the Partial Least Square (PLS) test. The results showed the traditions that existed in rural communities in the Regency of TTU was, in fact, able to overcome limitations and poverty which conditioned by community characteristics and social capital. This condition shows that the role and attention of the government is essentialy needed in developing the concept of creative socio-cultural energy through the traditions and culture of rural communities in the Regency of TTU.
