Editorial Policies


Focus and Scope

MILANG Journal of Mathematics and Its Applications publishes original research articles in the broad field of mathematics and its interdisciplinary applications. The journal covers, but is not limited to, the following areas:

  • Mathematics in Informatics — including mathematical foundations of computer science, algorithms, data science, cryptography, and computational mathematics;
  • Mathematics in Life Sciences — such as mathematical biology, biostatistics, population dynamics, bioinformatics, and modeling in health sciences;
  • Mathematics in Actuarial Science — covering actuarial modeling, insurance mathematics, financial mathematics, risk analysis, and statistics in economics and finance;
  • Mathematics in Natural Sciences — applications of mathematics in physics, chemistry, earth sciences, environmental modeling, and related fields;
  • Mathematics in Graph Theory — theoretical and applied research on graphs, networks, combinatorics, and their applications in various disciplines.

MILANG is open to high-quality submissions presenting innovative mathematical theories, methods, and applications that advance scientific understanding or solve real-world problems. The journal welcomes interdisciplinary research and contributions that bridge mathematics with other scientific domains.

Peer Review Process

  • Each submitted research article will be reviewed by at least two (2) independent reviewers using a double-blind peer-review process.
  • The editorial decision is based on the evaluation reports from the reviewers. If necessary, a third reviewer may be asked for an additional evaluation.
  • The final acceptance decision is made by the Editors according to the reviewers' comments.
  • The languages accepted in this journal are Indonesian and English.
  • Plagiarism scanning is conducted using anti-plagiarism software.
  • Accepted research articles will be available online (free download) after passing the peer-review process.
  • All articles published as Open Access will be immediately and permanently free for everyone to read and download.

Open Access

MILANG Journal of Mathematics and Its Applications is an open-access journal that provides immediate, worldwide, barrier-free access to the full text of all published articles without charging readers or their institutions for access. Readers have the right to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of all articles in MILANG Journal of Mathematics and Its Applications. This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.


Archiving

MILANG Journal of Mathematics and Its Applications utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...


Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement

MILANG Journal of Mathematics and Its Applications is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Department of Mathematics, IPB University, twice a year (June and December). The following ethical standards apply to all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers. These guidelines are based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

Publication and Authorship

  • All submitted papers undergo a rigorous peer-review process by at least two independent reviewers.
  • The review process is double-blind to ensure impartiality.
  • Reviewers evaluate relevance, soundness, significance, originality, readability, and language.
  • Possible editorial decisions are: acceptance, acceptance with revisions, or rejection.
  • If revisions are requested, acceptance is not guaranteed until the revised submission passes review.
  • Rejected manuscripts will not be re-reviewed.
  • Manuscript acceptance is subject to legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.

Duties of Authors

  • Reporting Standards: Authors must present accurate, honest accounts of original research, with sufficient detail and references for reproducibility. Fabrication, falsification, or plagiarism is unacceptable.
  • Originality and Plagiarism: Manuscripts must be original. Previous work must be cited appropriately. Simultaneous submission to multiple journals is not allowed unless agreed by editors.
  • Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publications: Authors should not publish the same research in more than one journal. Redundant or duplicate publication is unethical.
  • Acknowledgment of Sources: All sources of data, funding, and significant contributions must be acknowledged properly.
  • Authorship of the Paper: Authorship must reflect significant contributions to the research. All co-authors must agree to the final version and submission.
  • Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Authors must declare any conflicts of interest and all sources of financial support.
  • Fundamental Errors in Published Works: Authors should promptly notify the journal if significant errors are found and cooperate in correction or retraction.

Duties of Editors

  • Publication Decisions: Editors are responsible for deciding which submitted articles are published, based on the review, importance, and legal considerations.
  • Review of Manuscripts: Editors ensure fair and unbiased peer review and select qualified, conflict-free reviewers.
  • Fair Play: Editors evaluate manuscripts on academic merit only, without discrimination.
  • Confidentiality: Editors maintain confidentiality of all manuscript details.
  • Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Editors will not use unpublished materials for their own research and must recuse themselves from manuscripts with conflicts of interest.

Duties of Reviewers

  • Confidentiality: Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents.
  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.
  • Standards of Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively, with clear, constructive feedback and supporting arguments.
  • Disclosure and Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must not review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest and must keep privileged information confidential.
  • Promptness: Reviewers should only accept assignments if they can complete the review in a timely manner, and promptly notify the editor if an extension is needed.

Author Fees

We are pleased to inform all authors and prospective contributors that MILANG Journal of Mathematics and Its Applications, published by the Department of Mathematics, IPB University, does not charge any Article Processing Charges (APC).
