Evaluasi Paket Teknologi Budidaya Hibrida Cabai Merah untuk Hasil Tinggi di Ultisol
Abstract
Ultisols have a huge potential to increase the national production of many plants. However, its unfavorable chemical properties hamper the growth and yield of many plants, including hot pepper. Many works previously conducted addressed to cope with a single aspect of plant production. Rarely do we find investigations on a combination of several plant production technologies to improve yield on marginal soils. This study was aimed at determining a technological package for the high production of new hot pepper hybrids in ultisols. The experiment was conducted in an acidic Ultisols, Bengkulu Province, with about 400 m above sea level. There were four technological packages were applied to three hot pepper hybrids in a split-plot design with three replications. The technological packages were namely Package-A, Package-B, Package-C, and Package-D. The hybrid varieties were UNIB CHR17F1, UNIB CHR23 and Maxima. The results indicated that the three hybrid varieties responded in similar pattern to the different technological package, except on stem diameter. The best package enable to maximize the yield was the Package-A followed by the Package-C. UNIB CHR17 F1 showed significantly higher yield compared to the other hybrids.
