KAJIAN KOMPARATIF TUTUPAN HUTAN INDONESIA DAN PETA HUTAN EUDR PADA KAWASAN HUTAN DI PROVINSI KALIMANTAN BARAT
Comparative Study of Indonesian Forest Cover and EUDR Forest Map in Forest Areas of West Kalimantan Province

Differences in forest definitions between the Indonesian government and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), including the European Union Deforestation-free Regulation (EUDR), have the potential to pose risks to forestry businesses in Indonesia when linked to issues of deforestation and forest degradation. This study aims to compare the forest cover of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) and the EUDR in forest areas in West Kalimantan and to identify opportunities and obstacles for Forest Utilization Business Permits (PBPH) in developing multiple forestry businesses. The method used is a comparative analysis based on spatial data. The results show a discrepancy in forest area between the KLHK and the EUDR in forest areas amounting to 2.08 million hectares. Hansen's canopy cover shows that there are still 43% of areas categorized <10%, while the EUDR classification areas <10% only reaches 26%. This difference in definition has a direct impact on the implementation of Forestry Multi-Enterprise (MUK), namely creating obstacles in the form of compliance risks with EUDR, while simultaneously opening up opportunities for business development in strategic zones with different classifications.
