Manuscript Types

Current Biochemistry accepts the following types of manuscripts:

1. Original Research Article

Reports original experimental, computational, or clinical research in biochemistry and related fields, such as molecular biology, enzymology, metabolism, bioanalysis, and biotechnology. The manuscript should present a clear research problem, appropriate methodology, results, discussion, and conclusions that contribute to the advancement of biochemical knowledge and its applications.

2. Review Article

Provides a critical and comprehensive synthesis of previously published research on a specific topic in biochemistry. Review articles may include systematic reviews, scoping reviews, meta-analyses, or other rigorous literature review approaches, and should identify research trends, gaps, and directions for future research.

3. Short Communication

Presents concise, preliminary, or focused findings of significant interest that merit rapid dissemination, such as novel methods, new observations, or notable negative results. The study should provide sufficient methodological detail and data to support its conclusions, although it is shorter than a full original research article.

4. Conceptual/Theoretical Article

Discusses biochemical concepts, theories, models, frameworks, or perspectives based on a critical analysis of relevant literature or on computational and theoretical approaches. The manuscript should offer a clear conceptual contribution or provide new insights for biochemical research and practice.

General Requirements

All manuscripts must be original, must not have been published previously, and must not be under consideration for publication in another journal. Manuscripts must fall within the scope of Current Biochemistry and comply with the journal's author guidelines, ethical standards, and publication policies.
