Development of the Front-End Module for the KMS Digital Village to Accelerate Digital Innovation for Villages in Indonesia
Abstract
Indonesia has a very large number of villages, namely 83,794 villages, therefore digital transformation plays an important role in improving the welfare of rural communities. A digital village is a village that applies information technology to encourage the efficiency of public services, strengthen the economy of rural communities, and improve the quality of life of rural communities. However, low digital literacy and limited human resource capacity are still hindering the implementation of digital villages. Previous research in collaboration with FAO on the Digital Village Initiative program (2023) has collected data through an ethnographic approach on 160 digital villages and 100 digital innovations categorized into 10 groups, such as Agri-Food Marketing and E-commerce, E-Government, Smart Farming, and Social Service. Unfortunately, digital village information is currently spread in an unstructured manner so that it is difficult to access and utilize by other villages. This study aims to develop a digital village Knowledge Management System (KMS) platform using the Prototyping approach through the stages of communication, rapid planning, design, prototyping, and evaluation. This KMS is intended for innovators, village officials, and village communities, and can be accessed publicly. The developed module contains information on digital innovation in 10 categories along with their descriptions, innovator profiles, digital village profiles, and village digital readiness assessment features. These results are expected to accelerate the dissemination of knowledge and adoption of digital innovation between villages in Indonesia.
