Enhancing Usability of the Qualitiva Educational Applications: A Mixed-Methods Study using SUS and Heuristic Evaluation
Abstract
This study evaluates the usability of the Qualitiva application using the System Usability Scale (SUS) and Heuristic Evaluation (HE) methods. The goal is to identify the application’s strengths and weaknesses, offering recommendations for improvement. A quantitative approach was used with SUS questionnaires distributed to 100 respondents, while a qualitative approach involved heuristic evaluation by two usability experts. Results show an average SUS score of 69.00 (Grade C), indicating general user acceptance but highlighting areas for improvement in speed, design, data security, and system efficiency. The heuristic evaluation identified issues such as system status clarity, user-friendly terminology, interface design, and error prevention features. This research enhances understanding of usability in educational applications and provides actionable recommendations to improve user experience, including optimizing speed, refining the interface, and enhancing user guidance.
