Okra plants are generally propagated generatively, but one of the main obstacles to propagating this plant is seed dormancy, which can inhibit germination. This study aimed to obtain the correct technique for breaking dormancy in okra seeds. The study was conducted in April-November 2022 at the Cikarawang experimental field and the IPB Seed Laboratory. The two-factor experiment was structured using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). First factor: the concentration of the H2SO4 solution consists of four levels, namely control, 60%, 70% and 80%. Second factor: immersion duration consists of four levels, namely control, 3, 5, and 8 minutes. The results showed that H2SO4 treatment increased germination from 61% (control) to 98.1%. Effective treatment for breaking dormancy based on average sprout dry weight, seedling vigor, and speed of germination is 70% H2SO4 with a soaking duration of 8 minutes.
