Waterleaf (Talinum triangulare (Jacq.)Willd) is one of functional vegetable. T. triangulare contains flavonoid and anthocyanin that have function as antioxidant and cardioprotective. This research was aimed to study and provide information about the effect of shading stress on shoot production and flavonoid content of T. triangulare shoot. This experiment was conducted at Teaching Farm Polytechnic of LPP Yogyakarta, from March until September 2016. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with single factor. There were two treatments that used in this experiment (without shading and shading). Each treatment was repeated three times. The result showed that shading 82.51% decrease shoot production of T. triangulare. Shading gave b chlorophyll content and chlorophyll b/a ratio higher than without shading. Shading increase flavonoid total content.
