Abstract
Changes in fishing season patterns, main catches, and the increase in fishing boat can result in losses for handline fishermen. Therefore, an analysis of seasonal patterns and the feasibility of handline fishing operations is necessary. This research aims to analyze the seasonal fishing patterns and the feasibility of handline fishing. Primary data including investment values, operational costs, and income values, were collected from fishing vessels sized 10-19 GT and 20-29 GT, representing the predominant vessel sizes. Additionally, secondary data, such as handline fishing vessel logbook data, were obtained through literature studies. The results reveal six main catch species, with tuna being the most dominant. The peak season for tuna occurs from May to August, while skipjack tuna peaking in June and mackerel tuna in October. Handline fishing boats with the size of 10-19 GT and 20-29 GT yielded net profits of IDR 132,849,798.00 and IDR 211,122,924.00, respectively. The R/C ratio were 1.77 and 1.83, with payback periods of 2.35 and 2.85 years. The sales break-even point (BEP) were IDR 72,868,128.00 and IDR 98,133,162.00, corresponding to unit BEP values of 3,234 kg and 5,205 kg. The return of investment (ROI) was 43% for 10-19 GT vessels and 35% for the 20-29 GT vessels
