PENGARUH KONSENTRASI RUMPUT LAUT DAN DAUN KELOR TERHADAP KUALITAS MASKER GEL
Abstract
Many seaweed and herbal can be used as a source of antioxidant in cosmetic industries. Peel off gel mask is one of beauty cosmetics for facial skin care. The main ingredients of peel off gel mask are antioxidant compounds, namely T. conoides seaweed and M. oleifera L. Moringa leaves. Antioxidant compounds can inhibit free radicals on the skin and are able to treat and rejuvenate facial skin. The purpose of the study is to determine the effect of adding different ratios between T. conoides seaweed and M. oleifera L on the physical and chemical quality of peel off gel masks and to determine the best ratio. This study was an experimental laboratory with one factor. The treatments were used different ratios of T. conoides: M. oleifera L, i.e. R0 (0:0), R1 (1:3), R2 (1:1), and R3 (3:1) with three times test. The results showed that irritation test from 2.6 to 3.8 indicates that it did not cause irritation to the skin; pH value was ranged from 5.28-6.09; viscosity value were 8,193.33-29,416.66 cps; value of drying time were 9-23.33 minutes; antioxidant activity value IC50 were 9,514.35-99,683.20 mg/L; and hedonic test were 4.73-8.20. It can be concluded that the addition of a different ratio T. conoides and M. oleifera L has an effect on decreasing pH, viscosity value, increasing the value of antioxidant activity of peel off gel mask compounds, irritation value, hedonic, and drying time. The best ratio was in the R1 treatment (T. conoides 5% and M. oleifera L 15%).
