Prototipe Unit Pemetik Tongkol Jagung untuk Mesin Pemanen Jagung

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to design and test a corn ears picker unit in two rows of corn crops for locally made corn harvesters. The picker unit was designed to be able to harvest the corn ears from two rows of corn crops, and be able to feed the ears to the threshing unit. Snapping rolls mechanism was used for picking corn ears, and an auger mechanism was used for feeding the ears. Several models of the snapping rolls mechanism equipped with gathering conveyors were analyzed and tested, to get the best design. A prototype of the machine was constructed and then tested by laboratory-scale experimental methods. The prototype was operated in a stationary condition, while 25 cm spaced corn stalks with corn ears were moved forward and fed to the picker unit. The test results showed that the picker unit could successfully harvest corn ears with 100% picking efficiency, and 100% gathering-feeding efficiency.
Abstrak
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk merancang dan menguji unit pemetik tongkol jagung dalam dua baris tanaman jagung untuk mesin pemanen dan perontok jagung buatan lokal. Unit pemetik dirancang untuk bisa memetik tongkol jagung dari batang tanamannya pada dua baris tanaman jagung, dan bisa mengumpankan tongkolnya ke unit perontok. Mekanisme snapping rolls digunakan untuk memetik tongkol jagung, dan mekanisme ulir digunakan untuk mengumpankan tongkolnya. Beberapa model mekanisme snapping rolls yang dilengkapi rantai penarik telah dianalisis dan diuji, untuk mendapatkan desain terbaik. Sebuah prototipe mesin dibuat dan kemudian diuji dengan metode eksperimental skala laboratorium. Prototipe ini dioperasikan dalam kondisi stasioner, sementara batang tanaman jagung yang memiliki tongkol jagung, yang dipasang dengan spasi antar batang 25 cm, digerakkan maju dan diumpankan ke unit pemetik. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa unit pemetik berhasil memetik tongkol jagung dengan efisiensi pemetikan 100%, dan efisiensi pengumpulan-pengumpanan 100%.
