The relationship of Rainfall on Surface Runoff and Sediments on Various Land Use in Arui Watershed Manokwari Regency
Hubungan Curah Hujan Terhadap Limpasan Permukaan dan Sedimen pada Berbagai Penggunaan Lahan di DAS Arui, Kabupaten Manokwari
Abstract
Surface runoff and sediment are often underestimated in flood mitigation efforts. In fact, both of them in large quantities will cause silting and overflow of river water which has an impact on flooding. This study aims to determine the relationship of surface runoff and sediment on rainfall with SPSS 17 simple regression analysis. The results showed that the relationship between rainfall and runoff was only land use as significant moor, while other uses were not significant, continued linearity test showing a linear line. The correlation test/closeness significance did not show a correlation(very weak) only on land use as a moor which showed a fairly close correlation. While the relationship between rainfall and sediment showed an insignificant relationship, continued with the correlation significance test, it did not show a correlation(very weak). In the five land uses, the relationship between rainfall and surface runoff shows that there is not relationship. Thus, increasing rainfall does not necessarily increase sediment. Only land use for palm plantations has increased in area. The decrease in forest area is thought to increase illegal encroachment on limited production forests located around palm plantations.
