Malnutrition caused by disease is usually due to abnormal nutrient loss, increased energy expenditure, or decreased appetite. We herein present a case of a 2-year-old boy who was at risk of serious malnutrition after suffering from LCH a year ago. Food intake before admission to the hospital was less than the requirements (65% RDA), and the patient was classified as severe malnourished (Z-Score MUAC/A <-3SD). This study aims to evaluate the relationship between family income and nutritional status based on Weight for Height Z-Score (WHZ) in school-aged children in Babakan village, Dramaga sub-district. This research involved 33 school age children with an age range of 6-12 years. Data was collected through structured surveys and anthropometric measurements, and analyzed using statistical tests. The results showed that the majority of respondents had normal nutritional status, although there were variations in family income levels. Statistical analysis used the Pearson correlation test which showed that there was no significant relationship between family income and nutritional status based on WHZ for school-aged children (p>0.05). This indicates that there are other factors that are more dominant in determining the nutritional status of school-aged children, such as parenting patterns, parental nutritional education, access to health services, and the social environment. Therefore, efforts to improve the nutritional status of school-age children should not only focus on increasing family income, but also need to consider a more holistic approach.

Sharikha Herlinanda Arya Putri Dadang Sukandar Rivaini Fatimah Makbul Copyright (c) 2024 Jurnal Ilmu Gizi dan Dietetik 2024-07-01 2024-07-01 3 2 85 90 10.25182/jigd.2024.3.2.85-90 Kontribusi Zat Besi, Seng, dan Vitamin B9 dari Konsumsi Terigu berdasarkan Data Survei Konsumsi Makanan Indonesia (SKMI) 2014 https://journal.ipb.ac.id/index.php/jgizidietetik/article/view/53888
The mandatory wheat flour fortification programme in Indonesia aims to reduce the prevalence of iron deficiency anaemia (IDA). Despite this, the programme's effectiveness has rarely been evaluated. This study analyzes the contribution of wheat flour and processed food consumption to the intake of Fe, Zn, and vitamin B9 (folic acid) using data from the 2014 Indonesian Food Consumption Survey (SKMI). The study utilized a cross-sectional research design and included a large sample of 145.360 subjects. The results clearly demonstrate that the average wheat flour consumption among the Indonesian population falls short of the recommended consumption level of 75 g/cap/day for a successful food fortification programme, with an average of only 43.17±72.78 g/cap/day. It is noteworthy that only a small percentage of the Indonesian population, ranging from 10-30%, consumes wheat flour above the recommended level. Consuming wheat flour at a rate of 75 g or more per capita per day contributes to the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of iron, zinc, and folic acid intake, providing 20.35±11.96% of the RDA of iron intake, 57.52±32.73% of the RDA of zinc intake, and 12.01±6.45% of the RDA of folic acid intake. Regular monitoring of wheat flour consumption is needed to evaluate the impact of flour fortification in reducing micronutrient deficiency in Indonesia. The Indonesian Food Consumption Survey (SKMI) needs to be conducted now and regularly in the future so that the development of flour consumption and its contribution to overcoming IDA problems can continue to be monitored, as the basis to improve the policy to tackle iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) problem in Indonesia.

Drajat Martianto Atmarita Atmarita Nina Sardjunani Roza Kartika Elmira Fairuz Khilda Machfud Copyright (c) 2024 Jurnal Ilmu Gizi dan Dietetik 2024-07-01 2024-07-01 3 2 91 99 10.25182/jigd.2024.3.2.91-99 Hubungan antara Body Shaming, Eating Disorder, Frekuensi Konsumsi Sumber Karbohidrat dengan Overnutrition pada Remaja Putri SMPIT Al-Mughni di Jakarta Selatan https://journal.ipb.ac.id/index.php/jgizidietetik/article/view/54622
Obesity or overweight (overnutrition) is a global epidemiological problem that poses a quite serious threat to world public health. Early adolescence, namely 10-15 years of age, is a vulnerable period for weight gain, characterized by critical changes in body composition, eating behavior, daily activities, and psychological adjustments. All changes in body shaming, eating disorders, and frequency of consumption of carbohydrate sources can be risk factors for overnutrition in young women. The aim of this research is to determine the description and relationship between body shaming, eating disorders, and the frequency of consumption of carbohydrate sources on overnutrition in young women at SMPIT Al-Mughni. This research uses quantitative methods with a cross sectional approach. The total sample was 44 respondents. The research results show that young women at SMPIT Al-Mughni have a BMI/U in the range of more than 36.4%. Adolescent girls who experience overnutrition in the high category of body shaming variable are 50% (p-value=0.039). Furthermore, the eating disorder variable in the binge risk category was 64.3% (p-value=0.009). The final variable, namely the frequency of consumption of carbohydrate sources in the >1 x/day category, was 37.8% (p-value=0.640). From the results of this study, it was concluded that overnutrition had a significant relationship with the variables body shaming and eating disorders, while it did not have a significant relationship with the frequency of consumption of carbohydrate sources.

Devina Alifia Fadhilah Tria Astika Endah Permatasari Copyright (c) 2024 Jurnal Ilmu Gizi dan Dietetik 2024-07-01 2024-07-01 3 2 100 106 10.25182/jigd.2024.3.2.100-106 Body Image, Kualitas Diet dan Hubungannya pada Status Gizi Remaja Putri di SMAN 10 Padang Tahun 2023 https://journal.ipb.ac.id/index.php/jgizidietetik/article/view/54287
Adolescence is a transition period from childhood to adulthood that includes in the vulnerable group experiencing nutritional problems, especially under or over-nutritional status. This study aimed to determine the relationship between body image and dietary quality on the nutritional status of adolescent girls at SMAN 10 Padang. This research used a cross-sectional design and a sampling technique using the proportional random sampling method. The sample for this research was teenage girls in classes X and XI at SMAN 10 Padang, aged 16-18 years, for a total of 118 people. Research data was collected by means of anthropometric measurements, interviews, and filling out questionnaires. Data were analyzed used the chi-square statistical test and the fisher’s exact test to determine the correlation between body image and dietary quality with the nutritional status of adolescent girls. The research results showed that 76.3% of subjects had negative body image, 86.4% of subjects had poor diet quality, and 78.8% of subjects had normal nutritional status. There was a significant relationship between body image (p-value=0.037) on the nutritional status of adolescent girls, but there was not significant relationship between dietary quality (p-value=0.517) on the nutritional status of adolescent girls.
