Focus and Scope

Tropical forest has a unique features.  Its biological and ecological diversity rely on a very complex and interrelated system.  Managing the forest sustainably required a wide application on multi scientific disiplines.

Jurnal Manajemen Hutan Tropika (JMHT) is a periodic scientific articles and conceptual thinking of tropical forest management covering all aspects of forest planning, forest policy, forest resources utilization, forest ergonomics, forest ecology, forest inventory, silviculture, and management of regional ecosystems.

JMHT also welcome the topics that directly or indirectly support tropical forest management, e.g.: economics, anthropology, social, and environment.

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts are subject to peer review and are expected to meet standards of academic excellence. Submissions will be considered by an Editor and “if not rejected right away” by peer-reviewers, whose identities will remain anonymous to the authors.


Publication Frequency

Published 3 times a years: April, August, and December


Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.


Author Fees

Jurnal Manajemen Hutan Tropika charges the following author fees.

Article publication fees: 1.000,000.00 (IDR) per printed article up to 4 pages. Additional page will be charged 100,000 (IDR) per printed page without color photo(s). Color photo(s) page entirely the responsibility by authors per printed page.

If this paper is accepted for publication, you will be asked to pay an article publication fee to cover publications costs.



Ethics in Publishing


Jurnal Manajemen Hutan Tropika is international journal that committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against any publication malpractices. This publication ethics is developed to avoid misconduct in research and publishing.  This publication ethics clarifies ethical behavior of all parties involved in publishing a scientific article in JMHT.  This publication ethics is based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE)..


Author is defined as individual who has made significant contribution to the study.  The author should: (1) has substantial contribution to the conception or design of the work, analysis, and interpretation of data for the work, (2) involve actively in writing process in term of intellectual content, (3) approve the final version to be published.  All contributors that meet all the criteria should be listed as authors.

Review Process

JMHT is committed to objective and fair double-blind peer-review of the submitted for publication works and to preventing any actual or potential conflict of interests between the editorial and review personnel and the reviewed material.  JMHT chooses reviewers based on their expertise (whose most closely matches the topic of the paper).  At least 2 reviewers are invited to evaluate a manuscript. In cases of controversy or disagreement regarding the merits of the work, an additional review will be solicited.  The JMHT editor mediates all interaction between authors and reviewers, and the review owned by JMHT.

Publication Decisions

Comments and suggestions from reviewers are taken seriously and weighed based on their expertise. However, JMHT Editor reserves the final decision.  The editor JMHT is responsible for final decision on article acceptance based on reviewer's opinions, suggestions, and comments. 

Fair Play

JMHT evaluates manuscripts only based on the intellectual content.  No race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophies of the authors are considered in the evaluation process.


JMHT assure the confidentially of the manuscripts, actors, and other related information on the publishing process.  Only corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher are allows for the information.

Duties of Author

The authors acknowledge that they have disclosed all and any actual or potential conflicts of interest with their work or partial benefits associated with it. Authors also should assure that the research is original, analysis only underlying data, and able to retain data for at least 5 years after publication. All authors submitting their works to the journal for publication as original articles attest that the submitted works represent their authors’ contributions and have not been copied or plagiarized in whole or in part from other works.  All of submitted works will be checked by anti-plagiarism software. Plagiarism detected works will be banned for further publication procedure. Authors who have been determined to have committed plagiarism will be banned for publishing in JMHT. Multiple, redundant or concurrent publication is unacceptable. 

Duties of Reviewers

A reviewer should: (1) providing written and unbiased feedback to the authors, (2) indicating whether the writing is clear, concise and relevant, (3) evaluate the scientific accuracy, (4) identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors to elevate the quality of the manuscript, (5) assuring a fair play by avoiding personal comments or criticism including in this point is that reviewer should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest, and (6) maintaining the confidentiality of the review process. 

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Any departures from the above-defined rules should be reported directly to the Editors-in-Chief who are unequivocally committed to providing swift resolutions to any of such type of problems.

This is an open access journal which means that all contents is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.
