As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to The Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is 1 space; uses a 11-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Al-MUZARA’AH (Journal of Islamic Economics and Finance) is a collaborative journal of the Department of Islamic Economics, IPB University with the Indonesian Association of Islamic Economist (IAEI). The aim of the journal is to communicate and as the media of academic socialization by providing a platform for publication of research in the fields of Islamic economics, finance, microfinance, banking, insurance, halal industry, social finance and poverty alleviation, law and sharia issues in economics and finance, capital market, and other topics related to this area.

INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS OF AL-MUZARA'AH

(Revised Edition 2019)

General Requirement

  • Manuscript must be in original version, has not been published previously in any scientific journal. If the paper has been published in other scientific journal or any unethical behaviors have been found (refer to Publication Ethics), the author(s) cannot publish the paper on this journal for three consecutive editions.
  • Manuscript must be in the line of research topics (see Focus and Scope).
  • Manuscript could be written in Indonesia or English.
  • Manuscript should be submitted in Microsoft Word 2003.
  • All manuscript should be typed on A4 paper and between 15 to 25 pages.
  • Margins (left, right, top, and  bottom) should be normal (2.54 cm).
  • Author should not identify themselves directly or indirectly in the manuscript (except between the title and the abstract).
  • Author(s) had to enclosed biography, consists of author’s name, email, affiliation address, educational background, academic job, other job which had correlation with Islamic economics and research proclivity, in the end of the manuscript.

 

Manuscript Preparation Guidelines

  • The manuscript is written in 11pt size of Times New Roman, 1 space, 12pt space to the next paragraph. 
  • The manuscript consists of title, the name(s) of author(s) and affiliation, introduction, methods, result and discussion, conclusion, and references.
  • The chapter title is written in 12pt size of Times New Roman, bold, 18pt space to the previous paragraph, and 12pt space to the next paragraph or to the title of subchapter.
  • The subchapter's title is written in 11pt size of Times New Roman, bold, 12pt space to the previous paragraph, and 6pt to the next paragraph.

 

Title

  • Title should be written in two language (Indonesia and English), maximum 15 words length. Title uses Times New Roman, 12pt size, bold, and capitalize each words.
  • Title includes the author(s) name and affiliation. The author(s) name uses Times New Roman, 11pt size, and bold. The affiliation uses Times New Roman with 10pt size.
  • The space between Indonesian title and English title is 12pt, between English title and author(s) name is double-space, author(s) name and affiliation is double-space, and one-space between affilitaion.

Abstract and Keywords

  • Abstracts and keywords should be written in two language (English and Indonesia).
  • Abstracts use Times New Roman and 10pt size. It is one spacing between lines and 12pt spacing for the new heading. Left and right indent 0.5 cm. Maximum length is 200 words.
  • Keywords use Times New Roman and 10pt size, italic, lower case, maximum five keywords that reflect the content of the article. Keywords should be referred to JEL Classification System/JEL Codes Guide.

Mathematics Form

  • Mathematics form should be numbered, align text right, and indent 0.5 cm from left side.

Graphic and Table

  • Graphic and table should be in center and numbered.
  • The title of the graphic and table should be lower case style and in the center of the graphic and table if it just a line or align right with the graphic or table if it’s more than one.

References

  • References should conform to the APA Referencing Style.
  • 80% of the references should be primary literature (journal and proceeding) in the last ten years.
  • We suggest authors to use reference management software like EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero, etc., to prepare citations and the list of references.

Content of The Manuscript

  1. Title. The title should be brief, short, clear, and informative which reflects the article content. The length of the title maximum 15 words. Each word of the title should be started with capitalized letter.
  2. Author’s name(s) and institutions. The author’s name(s) should be accompanied by the author’s institutions, affiliation address and email addresses, without any academic titles and/or job title.
  3. Abstract. The abstract should be maximum 200 words. Abstract contains clear statement of the background of the study, the purpose of the study, method, result, and implication, with no references cited.
  4. Keywords should be maximum five phrases. Keywords should be referred to JEL Classification System.
  5. Introduction. The introduction describes the rationale of the research, problem statement, purposes of study, the novelty, and hyphotesis.
  6. Literature Review. This section may include the theoritical framework and some previous studies that have been conducted.
  7. Methods includes a) the types and sources of data that describes data and information collection techniques, and b) data analysis method.
  8. Result and Discussion. The result presents the empirical findings of the research conducted, while the discussion discuses the finding obtained. Discussion should show relevance between the results and the field of investigation and/or hypotheses.
  9. Conclusions should be written briefly in single paragraph, but reflects results obtained. Implication of results should be added stating what the findings of this research and imply for Islamic economic and finance.
  10. Acknowledgment (if any) to person(s) or institution(s) who help the research should be stated.
  11. References. This section lists only the papers, books, or other types of publications referred in the manuscript. References should be the last 10 year publication with minimum 80% of primary literature (journal and proceeding). References should be listed alphabetically by the author(s) last name(s) and the year of publication. We suggest authors to use reference management software like EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero, etc., to prepare citations and the list of references.

 

Guideline for Online Submission

Author should first register as Author and/or is offered as Reviewer through the following address: http://journal.ipb.ac.id/index.php/jalmuzaraah/user/register

Author should fulfil the form as detail as possible where the star marked form must be entered. After all form textbox was filled, Author clicks on “Register” button to proceed the registration. Therefore, Author is brought to online author submission interface where Author should click on “New Submission”. In the Start a New Submission section, click on “’Click Here’: to go to step one of the five-step submission process”. The following are five steps in online submission process:

  1. Step 1 - Starting the Submission: Author must check-mark on the submission checklists. If Author has any comments for the Editor, Author can fill the comments in the “Comments for the Editor” textbox.
  2. Step 2 – Uploading the Submission: To upload a manuscript to this journal, click Browse on the Upload submission file item and choose the manuscript document file to be submitted, then click Upload button.
  3. Step 3 – Entering Submission’s Metadata: In this step, detail authors metadata should be entered including marked corresponding author. After that, manuscript title and abstract must be uploaded by copying the text and paste in the textbox including keywords. The title and abstract entered are in English. Author also inputs the references of the manuscript in this page.
  4. Step 4 – Uploading Supplementary Files: This optional step allows Supplementary Files to be added to a submission. The files, which can be in any format, might include (a) research instruments, (b) data sets, which comply with the terms of the study's research ethics review, (c) sources that otherwise would be unavailable to readers, (d) figures and tables that cannot be integrated into the text itself, or other materials that add to the contribution of the work.
  5. Step 5 – Confirming the Submission:  Author should final check the uploaded manuscript documents in this step. To submit the manuscript to Al-Muzara’ah, click Finish Submission button after the documents is checked and true. The corresponding author or the principal contact will receive an acknowledgement by email and will be able to view the submission’s progress through the editorial process by logging in to the journal web address site.

After this submission, Authors who submit the manuscript will get a confirmation email about the submission. Therefore, Authors are able to track their submission status at anytime by logging in to the online submission interface. The submission tracking includes status of manuscript review and editorial process.

Additional note: AL-MUZARA'AH does not charge any APCs (article processing charges) or submission charges.
